I am frequently asked, “If Workbench is a web application, why do I
have to download it and run it on my own web server? Why isn’t it just
available for everyone in the cloud?” Today, I’m very excited to
announce that now you can now access Workbench at https://workbench.developerforce.com.

We are currently in a beta period for this new instance, so please let
me know if there are any problems you see. Please note that this is
the same version of Workbench you can download, but some features are
scaled back or disabled to keep performance in check.

Rest assured, Workbench is still open source and is still available
for download, if you wish to host it yourself. This method is still
recommended for production organizations, heavy performance load, or
to use features that are not exposed in the public instance.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you run into any
issues.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
many thanks for providing such a tool!! I really like working with it
and I'm doing so for some of our customers on NA1 org. Right now, we
have a new customer with his Org on the EU1 servers and I cannot
connect to these. Am I doing something wrong??

Many thanks - Julius

There shouldn't be anything special about EU1, but can you let me know if there's any error message you see? Also, at what stage in the login does it fail? Does it get through all the OAuth stuff where it asked for username and approval? One thing to check is make sure you are using API 22.0 with EU1 since it's still on Summer '11.
