Today I installed Safari 4.

Now when I add a attachment in Gmail (apped via Fluid) it crashes
consistently.

How do I solve this?

thx frank. i see this too. i'll look into it asap.

in the meantime, there's a workaround. when composing your gmail message, click the "Attach a file" link. then, you will see the "Choose File" button and the "no file selected" text next to it. (for those who know HTML, this is the <input type="file"> element)

in every webkit-based app (safari, fluid ssbs, cruz, omniweb, etc), you can simply drag and drop a file directy on the "no file selected text" to attach it. no "open" dialog is necessary. this is actually a really nice feature.

i'll try to have a fix for the crasher in the next release (prolly in march)

I've found a fix for this in my code. seems like a change in the
webkit api, but I'm not positive about that.

i'll be filing a bug with webkit, but either way my change to fix is
safe, so the fix will be included in the next version.

Hey Todd,

We're a creative/development team that relies on Fluid/Basecamp daily.
We are simply unable to use it at the moment. Any ideas? We're getting
the same errors as the Gmail situation. Attach File > Crash =
Consistently :(

Please let us know any information ASAP

Hey Todd,

Thanks for the new release.

I noticed that the workaround - drag and drop to attach a file (or
display of "Choose" button) has been disabled from 0.9.6? And is that
done only for Gmail?
Now if I click on the link "Attach a file" it opens the file "open"
dialog.
If it has been done to circumvent the bug you mentioned in webkit, how
about keeping this "fix" optional using a preference?

I kind of use the drag-n-drop more often than the "open" dialog.

Hi Ambarish. you bet.

no, this was not changed in Fluid. it was actually changed in Gmail
itself... i think it was one day *after* Safari4 was released.

I have no information on the change or why Gmail did it. I noticed it
allows you to attach multiple files at once... so that's nice.

in 0.9.6 i *did* fix the crasher that was previously affecting gmail
attachments however. It was actually affecting any file upload element
(<input type="file">) on any site, not just Gmail.
