No horizontal guides?

Hey group,
Firebug 1.4.2 in Firefox 3.5.3, Windows XP 32-bit. I have "Show Rulers
and Guides" turned on in the Layout tab, but when I hover over any
page elements, the horizontal guides (which would show the vertical
position against the left-hand ruler) are not displaying. Both rulers
display (the top and left hand ones), and the vertical guides (showing
horizontal position against the top ruler) are displaying just fine.
I've tried resetting all options to the default and also reinstalling
Firebug, but it hasn't helped. Any ideas? Thanks...
