Problem with webtop permissions admin

I seem to be having an issue with permissions in the webtop (4.11
upgraded to 5.1rc)

I had a Nav node that had anonymouse view denied (in 4.11). When I
upgraded to 5.1rc I noticed this node was displaying, so I logged out
and refreshed the page. Still showing. so I logged back in and right
clicked the node from the tree choosing permissions. I selected the
anonymous tab and clickity clicked a few times to get it on DENY. then
I clicked save... the Manage Permissions screen repainted with the
blue tabs across the top and "normal" "save" submit button directly
under them with no other interface controls.

The "deny" setting did not stick, and the problem is reproducable in
both IE7 and FF3

I have had to set the node to draft until I can figure it out.

Ideas?

Hi Chris, wish i could help you, it's still a bit of a grey area for
me the permissions troubleshooting, only time i had trouble was when i
changed the db code manually, i know, learned, that changes to that
area can be a problem, i hope someone more experienced can drop a
suggestion here...

I've had problems with javascript not being cached correctly on occasion. Basically combine.cfm caches the combined javascript in CF memory, so refreshing the page doesn't reload it. If you go to admin->developers tools and reload application, you can reload the javascript that way.

Try resetting that and seeing if you still get the JS error.

I am still having problems getting the manage permissions interface to
work properly and consistently using IE7, FF3 and Safari4. updateapp
is not working.

I have just grabbed milestone 5-1-1 from svn and dropped it on my dev
server, still I can not manage permissions from the tree. When the
interface loads, I see blue tabs across the top representing roles,
then a save button immediatly below. No options to manage any
permissions.
