One of the most powerful concrete actions coming out of the Occupy
movement is coming this Nov 5. This is when people are encouraged to
move their money out of the big banks and into credit unions.

100,000 people doing this simultaneously around the world can lead to
1 billion dollars suddenly shifting out of the big banks and into
local credit unions! The big banks might well be worried now. And
local communities really benefit because credit unions reinvest money
into their communities

Its an interesting action because it doesn't actually require any
legislation to be passed to succeed. Its actually something everyone
is allowed to do. Its legal. And can also derail the big bank
workings.

Anonymous's video about Bank Transfer Day. (Anonymous was one of the
key groups that sparked the Occupy movement)

This coordination of money movement on a large scale gives the public
leverage in discussions about reforming the Fed (which is made up of
these big private banks) and the money system
.

Here are some youtube videos about credit unions and banks..
The difference between banks and credit unions

.....
I want to encourage spreading the word to your friends and families about changing from banks to credit unions before Nov (Bank Transfer Day). If 20 people change through encouragement from you that could be a half a million dollars thats gets shifted from big banks and moved towards relocalizing your economy thru credit unions. That half a million dollars keeps getting circulated in the local community. So the effect is quite a bit larger than just a half a million dollars. That money leads to a lot more local and community based projects.

..
If we can get a million people through the Occupy movement to shift their money that leads can lead to 50 billion dollars getting relocalized into our communities..

Have a look at www.findacreditunion.com

In Marin we have a great one, Redwood Credit Union in the Montecito
Shopping Center 209 Third Street
San Rafael, CA 94901 They are solid and well established with 20
branches in the bay area. And when you go in there, there's no leech
energy! You are part owner!! I've loved banking there since 1994.
When it feels too far to drive, I just send them my deposits via mail.
