Hi,

First of all, I'm not a designer though I know HTML code pretty well
and have played with CSS a bit (not adequate). There are times I need
to create a single page without all the fluffy stuff including ads
etc...

The simplest way to achieve it to google for a template or a similar
page for close proximity. Too bad, couldn't find a single elegant
page of zillions of pages...

Do you have thoughts to share? To further explain my intent, please
see the following page, http://tinyurl.com/33q6axf

I'm not happy with its presentation, that is, yes simple but not
elegant. I wouldn't add anything else except maybe a logo on the top.

Thanks in advance.

In most cases, is better to hire a designer, even for simple layouts. This is what I usualy do.

But if you insist in create simple pages for you own... Search for some concepts like "color harmony" and "golden ratio", that may look attractive for human eyes.

As many people have said "good artists borrow, great artists steal". Meaning don't necessarily look for a template, but look at the sites you actually use, and find one that has already solved the problem that you are working on and copy it. Not pixel for pixel of course, but this can be a great way to get started.

You missed this part of my post

Additionally, for some nice looking / elegant site, code is too messy,
tons of js code and multiple CSS files...

Now, let's look at the Subject line again.

Thank you all. Problem resolved. A little bit more knowledge of CSS
goes a long way...

Exactly. Chances are someone else has solved your problem. So go find out how they did it, then make it better. I know *I* always do ;)
