Hi,

I have an Acer Aspire M1640 running Vista Home Basic and it has been
working just fine until yesterday.
The computer froze up and I had to restart it but when I did it gets
to the screen with the Microsoft logo and a bar near the bottom with a
green bar and just stays on that.

I have tried booting it up in safe mode but it stops at CRCDISK.SYS
and won't go any further.

I have no idea what to do.... any advice?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

Do you happen to have any CDs that came with the computer, it is
possible that you may need to restore the computer to factory state.

Generally when a computer freezes if there are any windows files be
accessed at the time of shutdown then they will become corrupt and all
sorts of issues can occur.

Let us know if you have these CDs handy, or if you even received any
CDs.

Unfortunately this looks like a pretty common problem, as I have
Googled "crcdisk.sys" and come up with a bunch of hits. On a computer
you know is good, try browsing here
and you'll see all sorts of people with the same problem.

before you try anything like recovery or fresh installation ،you
should backup anything on the computer....and i know you cant open
it....so you need something like 'ULtimate Boot CD' to backup and copy
what you need.

Try getting windows cd and run a repair installation ،،،،i think the
issue will be solved.

Im back،،no good excuse..
