I am using LaTex to typeset my thesis, but my supervisor uses Word. My
RE-search for a tool to convert BibTex database into Word's 2007
format resulted in nothing. So I took it upon myself to do it for my
PERSONAL needs after I knew how Word's xml-based file was structured
(little reverse engineering + Micro$oft's flimsy info).
The tool is written in AWK, and it has "some" limitations (see the
tool), but it works for me. I believe it is the only tool so far to
convert BibTex into Word 2007. Due to lack of information not all
BibTex's entry types are supported.
You can download the script and give it a try from my page

Please have a look at JabRef, the very powerfull open source
bibliography reference manager which operates under Java
http://jabref.sourceforge.net/
In JabRef you can create your own export filters. The example given is
how to create HTML output, but it can easily be changed to XML. It has
the added advantage that all the functions to format author names to
what ever you want, is all ready available, etc.
By using the JabRef option to create a sub bibliograpy from a Latex
AUX output file, it is easy to keep track of all the references in
your document, and thereby converting to Word format, only the ones
you have cited.
If you have sorted out the Word 2007 format, it would be very good if
you contribute your experience to the JabRef effort.

PS: I am using JabRef now in my rearch group, because it works very
well to export \cite{...}'s directly to Kile, WinEdt, LyX, and the RTF
export filtered references can be pasted directly into word. My next
step is to consolidate all our databases into a single SVN depository,
which can be accessed in Windows with Tortoise SVN or in Linux with
the standard SVN tools. The best of all is that it is totaly free!
Thank you very much,
