O2 Memory Setup question

Does anyone know if the O2 has a specific need for memory setup?
For instance:
I have banks 1-8.
banks 1-4 have 32 meg DIMMS in it
banks 5-6 have 64 meg DIMMS..

now the machine hangs on start with the Blue Screen..agggh!!!

You need a small set of patches for the O2 to work with more than 256MB. And
the higher density DIMMs need to be in the first slots, close to the CPU,
yes. Otherwise you'll get Blue/Purple screen syndrome.

Patches are:

Patch 2489: O2 PROM rollup
Patch 2609: O2 IDE for big memory
Patch 2675: O2 adaptec rollup
Patch 2762: IRIX 6.3 kernel rollup

or their successors. AFAIK, they are all in the latest recommended patch
set, and in others as far as (probably) the Jan 98 patch set.
