Can anyone out there (Dave Haynie, maybe) supply me with the pinouts for
the CD32 Expansion connector and/or the A600 internal (trapdoor) connector.

I would like to add a SCSI controller to my CD32 and would be willing to
put the final design in the public domain, but I need the pinouts for
that connector. I would also like to add some memory to a friends A600
as he is going insane trying to run things on only 2 meg chip :)

Thanks,
Michael French (michael...@jcu.edu.au)

Nope I know nothing of any expansions apart from FMV ;) , the "communicator"
Which is a serial device which plugs into the AUX socket to allow serNET at
115k baud, and something from germany which gives all normal in/outputs
- is this an old rumour that turned into the SX1 ?

Haven't heard of the C= one. What's it look like (fickle user who buys things
for niceness not functionality ...)

Yep, they were posted some time ago on c.s.a.hardware.

Hi

Here's a short description of what signals can be found on the
expansion port of the CD32. The connector itself is a the same
as used for the PCs 32-bit MCA (Micro Channel Adaptor) bus. It should
have 182 pins. Please use this information at your own risk, I
can in no way guarantee that the information is correct and I
will not repair/fix/pay for your damaged unit.

If anyone has done some experimenting with the CD32 and can add

some more information to this table please email me and I'll add
it to next release of the document.

Happy hacking ta All.

The RGB-signals come from the D/A-conversion-unit and lead directly
to the expansion-port. These signals are, however, *not* amplified.
In addition they are weakened by the (s-)video output-unit.
As a result I (aim to) insert a 47 Ohm-resistor to each
colour-signal
connection. You may also reduce the load by interrupting the singnal-
supply to the (s-) video unit.
Set *Pin* *174* of the expansion port to GND to achieve that.
(174-->u36 (4066) signal-switches)

The SYNC-singnals connected to the exp.port are unbuffered. As a
result you may re-synchronize your amiga by an external tact source.
You schould at least buffer the CSYNC-line; there is no external
synchronisation possible on this pin.
hint: make use of an XOR-Gate chip. You may negate
certain SYNC-line(s)
to adapt your amiga to (old? :-( multiscan-monitors.
(the A4000 monitor adapter box will do the same; w/o the possibility
of selected negation)

you may hook up a A4000-type keyboard to the CD32.
For the A4000-kb-port the +5V power supply is limitted to a
maximum current of 100mA

The signal-lines TxD and Rxd are reversed and carry 0 / 5VDC level

For the signal-translation form the 0-5VDC source to the standard
RS232-level (-12VDC / +12VDC) you may choose the MAX232 or an
equivalent counterpart (ICL232 ....)

connect the shielding of all cables to each other - but only
connect it to only ONE interface port connector (i used the
keyboard plug).

For the condensers C1..C5 you must get 1 uF electrolyt-condesers.
If your signal-converter is kind of the xxx232A (A-type) you must
use 0.1 uF instead (for C1..C5) [source : Maxim Data Book]

Be careful with your explorations. I suggest the serial signals
are passed through directly to the PAULA chip - so they are
slightly sensitive.

For the communication between my CD32 and a PC/AT I use Twin_Express
( ->aminet )

I got a pin out diagram for the CPU trapdoor expansion with my 1200, infact,
pin outs for every thing but the PCMCIA card port.

BTW, what software have you got ? I gave up with microcosm after I had seen the
intro...

Am planning to get a karaoke CD and Video creator next and have a party.

ORB + CD32 + VideoCreator + 30" TV >= LSD / E / etc...

UFORB + CD32 + VideoCreator + 30" TV + hash >= LSD / E / vulcan mind meld.
