Subject : Problem using Motorola SM56 modem on RH 9.0
Hi Friends,
I have a problem with using my Motorala SM56 internal modem in
RedHat Linux 9.0.
I have looked into the hardware info of the RH and have seen that
the modem is recognised in one of the PCI slots(i have installed the
modem in a PCI slot)
I am giving the details of the modem in the Hardware info .which is
below
"_______________________________________________________
Communication controller: Analog Devices SM56 PCI modem
Subsystem: Analog Devices SM56 PCI modem
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 10
Memory at d4901000 (32 bit,prefetchable)[size=256]
Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 2
"______________________________________________________
In the PCI list there are some more things. but this is the only
thing that says about modems...
I donot know what all this stuff means..but it is saying something
about SM56 modem ..
Am i guessin the right thing ??
Any help regarding this would be highly appreciated!
And i have heard that in some other versions of Linux there is a
modem configurator.Is that true ??
And also help me in knowing ...how to make a new connection if
themodem is configured and ready to use..
Thanking all those guys who helped me in the past.
Your sincerely
Swaroop
