http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_os.asp

2012 Win7 Vista Win2003 WinXP Linux Mac Mobile
February 48.7% 4.5% 0.7% 30.0% 5.0% 9.1% 1.3%

They don't have March up yet. It could go slightly either way. Except
XP use is certain to drop. Probably Vista, too.

Statistics Are Often Misleading

You cannot - as a web developer - rely only on statistics.
Statistics can often be misleading.

Global averages may not always be relevant to your web site.
Different sites attract different audiences. Some web sites attract
professional developers using professional hardware, while other
sites attract hobbyists using old low spec computers.

That would go for the slanted hitslink stuff, too.

Some web sites attract professional developers (linux), while other
sites attracts hobbyists (Windopes). Apparently professional developers
don't have a lot of interest in what hitslink tracks.

Using one (1) single sample-site is irrelevant. Unless of course you want to
compare OS usage for "WindowsTips.com" vs. "LinuxNews.com" and attempt to
show it's meaningful.

Exactly how is hitslink slanted? They aggregate data from thousands of
different websites. Given the fact they've been in business for over a
decade they're data must be useful to somebody who's paying for it.

And regardless of what sites they collect data from - Linux usage is down on
a relative basis. Whatever it was last month and however they measured it...
it's lower now than it was 30 days ago.

Huh? Your conclusion makes no sense.
