I've been asked a few times now as to how do I run Report Pro 3.5 reports in
VO27a apps without using the Classmate GUI so I've put a zip file on my web
site which shows the procedure.
If anyone's interested, you can download it from http://www.control.net.au
Select Links, then VO Resources. the file CdReportServerV35.zip is in there.
The zip file also contains a _Readme1st.txt file that will help step you
through the process.
Have fun!

Another question, do you make the sourcecode for the DLL you use also
available for download?

I was too quick to click!
The CdReportServerV35.dll is in the zip file now along with source.
No need for ActiveX either.

Never mind, it happens to me all the time

It sounds great, especially because i have VO2.7 apps running on Cytrix
servers where also 2.6 versions of other software( not mine) is running.
this gives a nice problem using the RPro ActiveX
But could you please respond on the other question as well. Do you make the
sourcecode of your DLL available as well or will i be depended of you for
ever <g>

Does this mean we can easily change from ReportPro 2 to ReportPro 3?
I have been using ReportPro 2 since it was first released and ofter
wondered if there would be benefits from upgrading to report Pro 3.
However, never having seen the product, and put off by the fact that
Classmate was required - I never bothered to follow it up.
Can you advise:
a) Is it an easy upgrade - especially with Craig;s utility.
b) Can Report Pro 2 Reports be upgraded to Version 3.
c) Are there other benefits to justify the move.
d) Would I be better looking at Crystal for my future reporting
requirements ;o)
TIA
John
Yes - pretty easy to do. We did the same from RP2 to RP3.
You don't need activeX stuff either.
Functions that you have in written in VO can be used in the actual report
too (Can you do that with Crystal?).
RP3 reports from our tests have proven to be slightly faster than RP2. I
think also from memory that skipping back pages in RP2 preview was a
problem, however it is not in RP3. Users really like the dual page preview
with RP3 as well.
HTH,
Craig.

Thanks for the encouraging information - its sounds like I should take
a better look at RP3.
I'm not worried about the Activex bits. We now use quite a few in our
apps and do our own embedding so no more MDF blues :o)
Thanks again
