Slipknot Initialize Host Problem

I've been hearing nothing but goodthings about slipknot and would like to
try it but I can't get past initializing host and it won't initialize, it
get as far as host scrpit 2 or someting like that then stop and say can't
intitialize host then my screen just turns to unreadable garbage, I have
also tried the beta 1.05? and still experience the same problem, any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.]
