Downloading it right now. The first 2 tests to do will be gathering the
system stats and running the IO calibration. OEL 6.x is now supported, as
well as its RH counterpart.

I can report that the problem with the system statistics is fixed. I will
run the stuff from the Randolph Geist's article mentioned by Charles
Hooper in our earlier debate and see if there are any changes with
respect to I/O calibration.

List of bug fixes is not available yet. The document listed in README
file is not found on Metalink.

Indeed. The patch number is 10404530.

Great,

I've only just installed a 4-node RAC on my laptop after procrastinating
for a couple of months, and now I have to ugrade it already.

Good news is that the patch for multicast is included in 11.2.0.3. This
makes my life a bit easier. Of course, there are no such problems when
installing on virtual nodes.

Seriously? 4 nodes on a laptop?

I can never tell when you are being sarcastic but this sounds like
it ... if not then how many nodes on a regular machine?

# and now I have to ugrade it already.

Yeah we all have more work to do now eh? Better than not having work
to do though ...

Yes, seriously:
http://jonathanlewis.wordpress.com/2011/07/27/rac/

But it does have 16GB of RAM and a quad-code i7.

It's not quite perfect yet - I've got some problems with grid control.
I can't get to the linux VMs from the Windows VM through the em URL,
and grid control failed to install on two of the four nodes. Neither issue
is a real problem though.

Hmm, according to the certification matrix Oracle Linux 6.x is not
supported yet for 11.2.0.3. Where did you find this information?

I found it on somebody's blog. The blog may have been wrong. I have no
way of checking, though.

Sadly not for Windows x64 until Q4 2011. Analyst at Oracle
recommended running it on Linux if possible :) Something that I've
been banging on to management about for some time. Sadly, whereas I
never tire of being right, they never tire of being wrong :P

The database guys at the OOW 2011 Support Bar did not have much to say
about 11.2.0.3 except it is recent. I could not get much of an
indication from them what their expectations were.

The "general thought" that several of them expressed was to think
about staying on 11.2.0.2.x until one or two patchset updates are out
against 11.2.0.3 ...

John, I don't expect the October PSU for 11.2.0.3. I don't expect any PSU
for 11.2.0.3 before January. According to my experience, 11.2.0.3 is a
very decent version. So far, I don't have any major problems with it.
