Moratorium on Deportations Campaign Organizers and community leaders will respond to President Obama’s first nationally broadcast speech on immigration reform!

President Obama will be speaking at the American University in Washington, D.C.

Chicago, IL- Father Landaverde’s hunger strike to stop deportations enters week number three and is moved to Chicago’s Douglas Park. At the same time, president Obama will be speaking at the American University in Washington, D.C. regarding immigration reform.

 

Taking a break from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Mr. Obama summoned Latino leaders and immigrant advocates on short notice for a 45–minute White House meeting on Monday, and he met Tuesday with members of the House Congressional Hispanic Caucus.”(taken from The Caucus Blog)

Recently in Chicago Immigrant Rights Organizers launched a Moratorium on Deportation Campaign in front of Chicago’s Immigration and Custom Enforcement headquarters. The campaign consists on doing local actions against local and federal enforcement agencies that contribute to the deportation of human beings.
