No latino Votes For Rahm Emanuel / No Debe Haber Votos Latinos por Rahm Emanuel

Immigration advocates and community activists call the Latino and all immigrant community not to vote for Rahm Emanuel for Mayor of Chicago.

 

“Emanuel could have done much for the immigrant community as Chief of Staff in the White House, but instead blocked discussions and bills in the House and Senate arguing that he wanted to ‘protect’ Democratic Congressmen in an election year”, says Carlos Arango. “Democrats lost anyway, but Rahm abandoned the White House two weeks before, not taking responsibility for any of his actions. He does not deserve to be Mayor of Chicago”.

 

“Back in 2005, as leader of the Illinois congressional delegation, Rahm could have prevented the approval of HR4437, but chose instead to allow a free vote. HR4437, which criminalized undocumented immigration, was not approved by Republicans, but by Democrats voting without guidance”, says Jorge Mújica. “Emanuel does not deserve to be the Mayor of a city of immigrants!”

Activistas de inmigración y organizadores comunitarios llaman a la comunidad Latina e inmigrante a no votar por Rahm Emanuel para Alcalde de Chicago.

 

“Emanuel podía haber hecho mucho por los inmigrantes como Jefe de Gabinete de la Casa Blanca, pero decidió bloquear las discusiones de las iniciativas en el Senado y la Casa de Representantes supuestamente para ‘proteger’ a los candidatos Demócratas en su reelección”, afirma Carlos Arango. “Los Demócratas perdieron de todas formas y Rahm abandonó la Casa Blanca dos semanas antes del fracaso y la catástrofe electoral, sin hacerse responsable de sus acciones. No merece un solo voto inmigrante para ser Alcalde de Chicago”.

 

“En 2005, como coordinador de los congresistas Demócratas de Illinois, Rahm Emanuel podía haber derrotado la HR4437, pero dejó a cada congresista votar por su lado. La HR4437 criminalizaba la inmigración y no fue aprobada por los Republicanos sino por los Demócratas que no recibieron instrucciones”, dice Jorge Mújica. “¡Emanuel no se merece ser Alcalde de una ciudad de inmigrantes!”
