Why: DuPage along with allies from Aurora, Addison and Chicago are acting to push for humane comprehensive immigration reform that allows for a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and not solely criminalize an under-represented population.
The current direction of immigration reform is in violation of the democratic ideals as well as civil and human rights that this country carries at its core.
This exemplified by Arizona's SB1070 which infringes on federal law and human rights as well as HB 2281 which labels multicultural education model as criminal in effort to create an essentialist view of American History a counterproductive effort in this globalizing society.
The elevation discriminatory enforcement based immigration policy is why a boycott of the state of Arizona was called but the Tea Patriots and Illinois Minutemen in conjunction with the “Buycott” campaign plan to overtly support businesses based out of Arizona. In this case the Stone Cold Creamery of Naperville and after their rally to purchase a "scoop in support" of the Scottsdale, AZ-based Corporation.
Organizers recognize the importance of immigrant rights because they are workers rights, family rights and the essential human dignity that is inalienable and because of this seek equal representation and protection for the undocumented.
