Show Solidarity and Support
To all Organizations and Individuals,
As we all know Amnesty International is an organization composed of people from across the world standing up for humanity and human rights. Their purpose is to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth and dignity are denied. They investigate and expose abuses, educate and mobilize the public, and help transform societies to create a safer, more just world.
We, as allies of Amnesty International, support all their hard work for standing up for humanity and human rights.
On Monday March 8 2010, Amnesty International will help bring justice for the Women of Atenco, one more time. Let us show our solidarity and join Amnesty International on International Women's Day by joining the rally at the Chicago Mexican consulate.
March 8th 12:00 p.m., 204 S. Ashland Chicago Il
Amnesty International demands appropriate action on behalf of the Women of Atenco.
More than 4 years ago, in San Salvador Atenco, Mexico, over 45 women were arrested without explanation and dozens were subjected to physical, psychological, and sexual violence by the police.
These women are still waiting for justice. Let us help demand accountability from the Mexican government!
Let us show solidarity and support to the cause “Silent No More”.
Wear red in support of International women’s day!
If you can't attend the rally, you can send politely worded letters to the Governor of Mexico State calling for an effective and impartial investigation into the torture and ill-treatment suffered by the Women of Atenco. Urge the authorities to take advantage of the evidence on sexual torture already collected by the federal authorities. Call for the criminal prosecution of all those responsible.
