Here are some of our programs:

Vendors have been held for almost twenty years to fight against the lack of opportunities to work as street vendors in a regulated manner. We need the project "Justice for Street Vendors" to make the city of Chicago issued an ordinance that allows us to sell on the street.

The group Community Advocates is a group of workers who have faced the challenge of preparing and self-organize to educate other workers about their labor rights, to support them in their struggle for wage claims, and to organize direct action against employers who abuse of immigrant workers.

Mexican immigrants are one of the fastest growing social groups in the United States. Of these, undocumented workers are the most vulnerable group: they are receiving lower wages, excessive working hours, often in unsafe conditions and without access to health insurance or health programs. It is also this group, representing 5% of the workforce in the city of Chicago, who suffers from further violations of their rights. During the Bush administration until 2006, undocumented workers have also faced harassment and discrimination in companies based on the letters "No Match" from SSA, and now with the "E Verify."

According to the study of the Center for Urban Economic Development, the University of Illinois at Chicago UIC. (April 2010)
www.urbaneconomy.org, which CCWR is part of the Committee of directors, low-income workers in Cook County who are unaware of the law, they experience the loss of more than $ 7.3 million dollars a week as a result of violations to the labor law by employers.

For all that the program "Community Defenders" and "Justice for Street Vendors" of CCWR are essential.

We have the volunteer work of 13 people a week four hours each, for distribution of brochures and to care for people requiring information. Also to carry out fundraising events.

The legal clinic "Workers' Hands" meets with people who need legal aid. Also for groups who have questions about injuries at work we are organizing a monthly workshop given by the Attorney José Rivero, we also make workshops with IDOL, OSHA, IDHR that are informative for our community and their are given three times a year.

Thanks
