Moratorium on Deportations Campaign invite you to Ni Vencidos, Ni Vendidos: A Forum on Race, Border Walls and the Politics of Not Selling Out this Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm at Northeastern Illinois University in the Student Union.
Free and Open to All, Parking, Childcare and Food will be provided!
This a forum about grassroots struggles to confront criminalization and resist borders without buying into the politics of "worthy" vs. "unworthy" people, "good immigrants" vs. "criminals." It will explore how politicians are promoting "Immigration Reform" and are trying to sell us the idea that limited rights for the "good immigrants" can be won in exchange for increased repression of all others.
Workshops include:
- ¿Qué Onda con eso de la Reforma Migratoria? - What's up with Immigration Reform?
- "Hip Hop is Resistance," a beat-making workshop for youth, with Shining Soul from Phoenix
- Inmigración y el complejo industrial encarcelario - Immigration and the Prison Industrial Complex
- Mapping the connections: Mass Incarceration and Immigrant Detention
