This call is from the Chicago teachers... OS

Protest and picket:  Wed. August 25 9:00-10:00 a.m. @ 125 S Clark St, Chicago.

Dear CTU members and friends of Publicly Funded Public Education:

The Chicago Board of Education persists in its plans to permanently lay off dedicated and experienced educators, despite the infusion of over $100 million in federal funds to keep educators working! Additionally, the Board has not requested that Mayor Daley declare a surplus of TIF funds, which would provide another $350 million for our students' education.  This refusal to fully fund schools must be answered and the Chicago Teachers Union is calling for a large protest outside of CPS Headquarters this Wednesday, August 25, from 9-10 a.m.

Please circulate this message widely to parents, students, community members and other educators.  This is the last Board of Education meeting of the summer, and before the school year begins for the majority of our students.  It is not too late to put a rational staffing plan in place, to give our students the coherent, consistent, quality academic year that they need and deserve.

Protest and picket:  Wed. August 25 9:00-10:00 a.m.

125 South Clark, Chicago Board of Education headquarters.

Bring signs and energy!

To speak at the Board of Education meeting:  arrive by 6:30 a.m. Sign up is from 8-9 am.

The Board is more interested in unionbusting than in educating our students, the most vulnerable members of our society.

Tell the Board of Education that our students' futures are being shortchanged and our dedicated educators are being discarded.
