Julio Cesar Martinez Delgado (19), a Honduran National and a freshman at BCTC in Kentucky, was detained this March 17th by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In 2000, when Julio was 7, he and his family were apprehended by ICE and given a court date. Unfortunately, his family moved away and could not make it to court. A warrant was issued for their arrest.
Though Julio clearly had no control over and is not to blame for the childhood missed court date, he is currently detained in the City of Kenosha and facing imminent deportation for failure to appear in immigration court when he was seven.
It is a travesty that a hard-working student like Julio is treated as a fugitive and criminal for something that occurred when he was a small child. Julio’s only chance to stay in the U.S. is to seek a Stay of Removal. We need to show ICE we support Julio and will fight for him to stay.
Julio is not only an upright citizen, an accomplished student, and a hard worker but he is the main provider for his family. His family and his life are here, just like the lives of 12 million people who live in the US without a legal status.
We will not stand by and let students be deported without making our voices heard. We cannot wait. Julio cannot wait.
