Dear Rosi, Today we received word from immigration authorities that they had decided to deport Martin Vasquez-Pardo from his wife and children. Although he has no criminal record, is a hard worker, and has a family that depends on him, Martin could be deported as soon as tomorrow morning. Please take a moment to sign his petition, and tell ICE to stop his deportation. Martin was detained when he was on his way home from helping his brother, who is disabled due an accident at work. He was stopped during an immigration raid unrelated to Martin or his family. Martin found himself hadncuffed, even before immigration agents knew his immigration status. Read more about his story here. Despite the denial of prosecutorial discretion, Martin's family, including his daughter, and his partner and her children, will continue to fight for him to stay. Bianca, Martin's 10 year old daughter, recently wrote a letter to immigration enforcement telling them, "I cannot stop crying. I think about him all the time. Please don't take him away from us. I love him." We know that families like Martin's are separated every day. We can't always stop every deportation, but we can try our hardest with the cases that come to our attention. Please take a moment to sign his petition and make a call tonight, and if you can, tomorrow morning. Thank you, Jacinta Gonzalez New Orleans Worker's Congress |
