Immigrant Solidarity Dupage in its mission to educate, unite and mobilize Dupage County around the rights and struggles of the Latino community presents the community forum: In the Struggle Towards Legalization for All, Saturday December 5, 2-5pm, Glenside Public Library, 25 E. Fullerton Glendale Heights IL 60139.
The forum coincides with proposals in Congress regarding immigration reform and its goals are 1) to inform the public of the developments; 2) discuss the state of the struggle from immigrant rights; 3) talk about what we in the community can do to pressure for a just immigration reform and; 4) discuss why we in the immigrant rights movement must remain firm in our demands for a legalization for all, no guest worker systems, an end to E-Verify firings and rejection to the militarization of the border.
Veteran immigrant rights leader Martin Unzueta of the Chicago Workers Collaborative will be the special guest accompanied by a panel of suburban immigrant rights activists lead by Diego Bonesatti community relations director of Our Lady of Mount Caramel Church in Melrose Park along with Rita Gonzalez of the Dupage County Board (dst. 1), student leader Jose Vera of College of Dupage and Rafael Vieyra co-founder of Immigrant Solidarity Dupage. Refreshments and entertainment provided.
