Subject: Interested in museum curator Twitter project?

Hi guys, form letter below, but I wanted to say that this could also be a fun project for students who speak other languages - assign interested students the task of inviting curators, or writing about the project for publication, or translating tweets for a wider audience (Liz Castro has inspired me with her #catalanchat in many languages)...

Also, Mar is now in Poland and Russia - extending the reach of this idea.

Are you interested in joining me in a social media project which I envision would include college and high school students as organizers? I’m sending this to a lot of people in the hope that there’ll be some part that sounds enticing and we’ll come up with a good work group! Feel free to forward.

Background: I’ve been enjoying this Twitter site, @realscientists: https://twitter.com/realscientists

Briefly, it’s a rotational Twitter account with a different guest expert every week or so and the website holds more info and the archive: http://realscientists.wordpress.com/about/  It’s fun to learn from experts and get glimpses of their world. If I were a secondary science teacher, I’d include this in activities and resources.

I was talking to Mar Dixon about using this idea in the world of museums of all kinds. Mar is https://twitter.com/mardixon and as you can see, she is active in several museum endeavors. She was enthusiastic about the possibilities and very willing to promote it widely. Mar set up a placeholder Twitter account for us: https://twitter.com/RealCurator (nothing there yet!)

So, would you like to join us? You could help in many ways – from suggesting a curator, to mentoring a high school student as they Storify some highlights for us, to helping with the website, ….

Please share widely. I’d especially love to include high school and college students, interns and those who encourage youth involvement in museums.

Here’s the Google form: http://goo.gl/p6mFnI

If you are a K-5 or middle school teacher, let’s see if there might be a way to include you!

PS Let me know if you are one of my “in many worlds” friends and would like to get another letter very like this, very soon, re librarians :)

PPS some of you are on this list because I like to include you in everything, relevant or not.

PPPS sending to batches at a time, not whole group, trying to find the one bad address...
