Have we migrated all projects to Git already?
Which projects were moved from Nant to MsBuild completely and which are
still waiting?

If we're completely moved to Git, please someone update website with
links to new repositories.
Also build server needs to be updated to pull changes from new repository.

No.

Core, Mr, NVelocity and some Components are still pending.

I haven't migrated any of my projects, but plan to do some documentation, coding and housecleaning this weekend, so I'll be getting to it then.

To those of you who have migrated them to git - thanks. I clearly have a lot of reading/catching-up to do.

Regards,
-rb

Btw, Are we migrating the releases svn tags?

Yup, tags are also migrated, e.g. http://github.com/castleproject/Castle.InversionOfControl/tree/2.1.1

Yell if you see any tag missing. :-)

AutoTx facility has just moved to MSBuild. Windsor and AR facility are currently the others.

Code coverage is enabled in TeamCity for the three MSBuild enabled projects, see for instance this IOC build:
http://builds.castleproject.org/viewLog.html?buildId=5261&buildTypeId=bt52&tab=Code_Coverage

So this means that the only thing that nant used to do that msbuild is not doing is NDepend report, right?

Also, in nant, the "merge" task that we used to use in the build server did 2 builds, one in debug and another one in release (for .net-3.5 only), the reason we did this was so that we didn't have to create another build configuration in TC, I guess with the msbuild we have to create another build configuration?

Also, how about silverlight + mono builds?

Cheers
John

NDepend is currently missing, but should be easy to add.

I will look into adding the "merge" task to build.proj, so we can keep the # of build configurations down.

The Silverlight build should be easy with MSBuild, we need to look into Julian Birch's solution transform for generating the Silverlight project files. Julian?

For Mono xbuild should be used, I'd love somebody with an interest in Mono to provide this.

Roelof,

I'm actually of the opinion that we don't need NDepend on the build
server, I've never looked at the NDepend reports on the build server,
I always do it on my local machine through VS.
Silverlight + Mono xbuild + VS2010 would be nice :)

Cheers

I'm with you on NDepend.

Building with Mono xbuild is an option of the  MSBuild runner in TeamCity, I have a feeling though that the build will not work right out of the gate on Mono. So somebody with a Mono (2.6) install please step up and try to get it to work.

Regarding Silverlight: I've pinged Julian about this.

There are no projects that use VS2010 currently, I see no reason to create a TC build for it yet.

Just tried xbuild on the build server and surprise surprise, it didn't
work

no compatible agent :(

That's because you have created (copied wrong config?) incorrect build agent requirements, the system.os.name prop should be Linux, not Windows.

AR facility gets quite far on the Mono build agent:

Hi, I've spoken to Roelof already, but to summarize: Solution
Transform does silverlight right now, and will do VS2010 and .Net 4.0
(both or separately). I don't know much about Mono, but at the
solution/csproj level is there much to do other than add the #defines?
That, obviously, is easy.

Hi,

I was trying to migrate the ActiveRecord to msbuild, but something is
wrong and I can't figure out what is. The build runs successfully on
my machine, but with TeamCity it fails[1] with some generic message.
Since I'm no TeamCity or MsBuild expert, I could use some help here.

From the tests that run successfully in the last build, I'd say it's
because the build ignores the settings specified for running with
SQLite. It now runs on SQL 2005 again, which seems somewhat more
stable...

By unstable I meant the AR test suite running unstable on sqllite.
Imho, if a test suite fail sometimes and sometimes don't, it becomes
unreliable and useless.

Just noticed that JetBrains changed the status of the issue to Open and moved it to 'High Priority Pool', whatever that means.

NVelocity, Wcf Facility, Synchronize Facility, Validator and
Pagination Components had migrated to msbuild.

The mono build of them still pointing to svn/nant.

Cheers,

Ok, build server has latest mono 2.6 branch as of today. I kicked off
a Facilities - ActiveRecordIntegration build and unfortunately we're
having the same issue...

Cheers P

Many thanks for making the effort Patrick.

I've checked the source of xbuild's Parameters.cs and it looks like we pass xbuild a parameter like this: '/p:' or '/property:', so no name at all.

Is it possible for you to see what the complete commandline is that's passed to xbuild?
