Hi all,

Starting from today, the castle main svn repository will be no longer online.

The Contrib repo still is up and running.

Cheers,
Henry Conceição

Henry + Contrib people,

Should we also move the Contrib repository to git?
I've already created an account at http://github.com/castleprojectcontrib

Cheers
John

If yes, we don't need a new account in my opinion. Just migrate all
the contrib things to a castleproject/contrib repo.

But shouldn't each contribution be treated as a separate project, the
same as the castle projects?
This is really a question to the people that write contributions, I'm
not one of those, so I don't know what the best solution is!

In an ideal world, yes.

But requires a lot of work to split/migrate each contrib project to
its own repository. And most of the contrib projects doesn't have an
owner or even is been active developed. So, I don't believe that this
(split/migrate) will gonna happen.

I agree we should just dump all contrib projects in a single repository in the castleproject account. Since we are moving everything to git I would expect "contrib" projects from now on would exist in people's own github account.

That would be my expectation too, hence the reason I asked about
splitting the contrib projects.
And if it is too hard to do that, then we may as well leave them in
svn.

Hi Henry,

I'm wondering if we can update the fisheye setup there:

http://fisheye2.atlassian.com/browse/castleproject/

does everyone consider that the github frontend is covering all the
needs and fisheye does not provide much?

it would be cool to have this for every project, but I'm unsure if
other people find that useful anymore.

Personally I don't care too much for Fisheye but you can one thing it
does that github doesn't is searching. You'd have to clone a
repository and search it locally.

I asked Atlassian some months ago about this and they're willing to
migrate Castle to another, newer, fisheye server, one that supports
git: http://forums.atlassian.com/thread.jspa?threadID=38262

The thing is, since every project now has its own repository,
Atlassian would have to have one fisheye repository per project...
it's kinda messy... and IMO not really worth it.

Cheers,
Mauricio
