"Christchurch-based AdScale Laboratories Ltd builds an online
marketplace client website and ad server farm that allows advertisers
to reach an audience of 36 million internet users across 15,000
publisher websites, mainly in Europe. To achieve this AdScale works
with cutting edge technologies to deliver a highly interactive website
client, scalable server farm technologies and data processing
solutions that analyse vast amounts of data. Arguably no other New

As probably everyone on this list knows, these guys do some seriously
cool stuff with Java. In particular, Scott will be covering:

Data Processing

AdScale processes 10 billion transactions per month. If you were to
print these
transactions out on A4 paper laid end to end this would go round the
earth one and a half
times and consume 120,000 trees, so we use a database instead.
Technologies discussed
will include:

Vertica, a highly scalable node based denormalised database.
Voldemort, a highly performant DHM key value store.
Hazelcast, a highly scalable and fault tolerant DHM key object store.
MapReduce, cluster based processing of massive data sets.

Cloud Computing
