All,
If you have an account with Bank of America then make sure to check the latest transactions (past coupel of months). Unusual charge have occured on my eBanking and my friend's (very unlikely). The charge called "monthly maintanance fee" and it is $25. I inquired about the charge, and their first response was you are advantage customer (trying to take me for an idiot). However, I responded that this was not part of the deal when I agreed to become advantage cusomer. They immediately agreed and removed the charge and apologized that it was a mistake.
Sure, mistakes happen, but why always in their advantage??? The big question is then, how many more of these "mistakes" are there? Considering that Bank of America has at least 10 million customers, this means they might have made at least 250 million with this mistake.
This is what you should do:
1 - Check your accounts very frequently (with any bank) for any unusual charges.
2 - If you find out that you have been charged by "mistake" then report immediately to Department of Consumer Affairs in your state and on federal level. This step is important. What seems as small-cost mistake to just YOU, can turn into a big income from the public if it is not brought into regulator's attention. Not to be too preachy about this. But as a good citizen, it is your responsobility to protect the rest of people if you see something unusual.
