It would be cool if you guys can do few of the things with
Delphi such as
1. Win64
2. Generics for Win32/Win64
3. C++/CLI style integration between native/managed code
4. Improve quality of native compiler
5. Decent Unicode support
Can not talk much about marketing but I think if items above are
implemented then it can put Delphi back to the place where it
belongs at least on technical merits.

Marco

This makes me hope even more that I lose my bet about 30% staff reduction
within six months of the actual spin-off. It also makes me think I am far more
likely to lose that bet!
I gotta tell you, this news was quit a shocker. In the good sense, of course.
It seems to me that to be great product manager that this means you will have
to acknowledge and act to fix what is broken in Delphi. You've been a tireless
enthusiast for Delphi, which is good, as a product manager that doesn't believe
in his product will go nowhere. To be honest I would have seen you more as a
Delphi Evangelist or in DevRel, given that enthusiasm.
That's a small quibble though, and totally irrelevant. I find myself quite
envious that you get to sit in the hallowed halls of Scott's Valley, a place
I've not even had the fortune of visiting.

Strongly disagree; I'd rather have a great product than great marketing. Nick
might make a great cheerleader, but a Product Manager with fight and enthusiasm
is far more important.

Then maybe you ought to have the words
Fast, Efficient and Threadsafe
burned into the wall in front of your desk.
A set of fast, efficient and threadsafe containers and classes to assist in
the development of multithreaded apps would be nice. I find myself using a
lot of time constructing my own.
Having a good abstract baseclass and a threadsafe wrapper can help, but be
aware that while mutating the collection might be made threadsafe by the
collection itself, iterating it normally requires external synchronization.
grtz, Bart
Strangely, if you click on the home link, then everything wraps correctly.
There is some difference in the markup between viewing multiple entries on
the home page and viewing a specific entry.

My solution to that problem was to design the app so as to minimize the need
to iterate through collections that are shared between threads. However, I
should add that I am still researching the best ways to do interthread
communication. I've been trying a lot of different ideas in my newsreader,
some of which worked well and some of which crapped out. In fact, this is
basically what I've been doing with my newsreader for the last couple of
years--testing out new algorithms and ideas.
For example, one idea that is crapping out is a threadsafe version of
TStringList. It basically contained a TStringList inside a threadsafe access
class. The problem is that TStringList itself is a dog, and if too many
elements are placed in it, the searches I need to do on inserts to keep out
duplicates get too long and the locks cascade until the CPU is at 100%. The
threads sit there and wait for all the other threads to finish their
searches. So I need to redesign my processes that use this threadsafe
TStringList, probably to use a TThreadsafeQueue that I wrote (actually, it
is a consumer/producer object).
I like that disclaimer.
And even more the funny webpage that shows when you click on it :-)

It can't be sorted by the string unfortunately. It has to be found by an

It was a bad design choice. Quick and dirty. What I need to do is what I did
with the messages that populate the messages pane, a custom-written
container optimized specifically for the data and functionality I need.
