This feature has been implemented and is deployed on SETI@home,
SETI@home beta, and BOINC alpha test. Please try it out and let me
know if any problems.

Did you change the number of team members displayed?

I can now flick through the pages and see ALL the members of my team.
"With and WITHOUT" credit.

John.

I removed the credit>0 restriction from the member list;
I can add it back as an option if desired.

Some projects show team members "With and Without credit"

To be honest David, i am in favor of what you just done!

I never liked the fact that the SETI@home project does not reconise
ALL people that have signed up.

Its good that you block people that sign up just to send spam but it
is nice to see ALL the members of a team reguardless of credit.

I say keep it, its good! But i'm very open to what other people think
of this one!

Some teams might have a good reason for not wanting the "Zero Credit"
people showing.

OK, on the topic of the new feature of promoting team members to team Admin's.

I have joined my own team under another account to try and find a flaw in it.

To play devil's advocate, what malicious things could i do if i was
promoted on my team?

I cannot remove the founder as his name does not appear on the removal
list. But i could remove everybody else off the team. Its a loop hole
that i think we should close just in case. So the promoted team member
CANNOT remove anyone off the team.

If i wanted to do damage to the team, i could change the team name or
description to something else. That would take the team out of the
team stats for a few days. But as soon as the real team founder See's
the problem, he can fix it very easily just by changing the name back
and kicking you off the team, so i think that is OK. No real flaw
there, we want the promoted person to help update the team description
if the founder does not have the time.

If i was bad, i could try to email the whole team and ask them to come
and join a new team that i set up. But i think that someone would be
pretty desperate to do that and it would also require all the team
members to agree also. So i think that is also OK.

So i think if we close the loophole for the assistant so that he
cannot remove anyone off the team, everything else looks cool!

I changed things so Admins can't remove members.
Deployed on the projects under my control.

Excelent!! It works!

This means that if i fight with the real team founder, i cannot
"Destroy" his team beyond repair just to get him back. At worst i
could just change the team details which can be easily fixed.

I went into my team as a "Promoted Admin". I could see the function
for removing team members but when i select people to remove off the
team and click the button, it says "This operation requires
foundership".

Everything look cool. I think we have covered everything needed for
this function for the moment. Unless other team founders would like to
add something to this function or if someone else see's a flaw that i
have missed.

I can see this new function solving many problems in the way teams
work in BOINC. Its just like in real life on any team. When my team
gets too big, i need people with other skills to help my team to grow.
So now i can safely promote someone knowing that he cannot dammage the
team, but he can help organise the team. And the critical thing, now
its possible for one person to apply to be founder or Admin on all
projects so he can send a "BOINC WIDE" team newsletter to the team.

Perhaps the credit 0 restriction could be added in as an option for
the founder only?

On the topic of members credit 0 restriction and number of members
displayed,
I'm happy as it stands but the ultimate way to display this info is to
do what we do in TEAM doc. It is one of the reasons i built TEAM doc
in the first place, i never knew when someone join the team.
Display 3 numbers
1) Total members; 100 for example
2) Members with credit; 90 for example
3) Active members; 42 for example (Credit greater than 1)

These are the numbers that i watch every day as a team founder! I also
know that members of my teams also love to know about new team members
joining the team. If some joines a team, then EVERYBODY on that team
has a new friend. Teams are about making new friends!

I hate to harp on about this topic but.

David,
Excellent job you done on SETI@home. When i view the team page, i now
see 3 values for team members. Total members, Active members and
members with credit. Super job! And to put the icing on the cake, i
can now see all the people who joined the team today. And just under
the founder, i have a list of the team admins.

There is a few buts.....

When i land onto that team page, it used to show the top 20, now i
have to click one of the three member links to see them.

Can we make it so that the team page still shows the top 20 "Total
members" automatically and every team page i land on, i can still see
the team description!

Then on the bottom of the page, beside where it says "Next 20", could
we put a link that says "Next 50" and "Next 100". Its needed for
viewing big teams!!!!

What i have done is i have made a big picture of what the landing page
for a team should look like. The picture is exactly the way the team
page should look when i view my team. I have marked the new changes in
red writing in the picture.
Here is a link to the cut and paste picture i made;
http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n46/john502/BOINCteamPage100.png

That is what the team page should look like. It has all your new
features, but it has the new stuff marked in red.

John.
