Hi, is there any possibility to make the itunes plugin and adress book
plugin compatible with cyrillic characters?

Does it work to use Cyrillic characters in file names? What sort of
problems are you having using itunes and address book?

you mean in file names in finder and the whole system? yes it works, i
also can search in quicksilver for folders and files with russian
names. But not for contacts in adress book(in spotlight it works for
russian contacts, but not in quicksilver) and i can not search for
songs or albums in quicksilver using itunes plugin. All charecters are
displayed ok in catalog, thats not the problem, but if i type
something in russian quicksilver cant find it in adress book and in
itunes

Hm. I just tried it on my computer, and it worked for me. I turned
on the Russian - Phonetic keyboard layout, made a new contact in
Address Book with some random Cyrillic characters for a first and last
name, and made a playlist in iTunes that also had Cyrillic characters
for a name. After I re-scanned the catalogue by pressing Cmd-R in the
Quicksilver command window, both would show up when I began typing
Cyrillic characters into the command window.

Have you re-scanned the catalogue before searching? By default QS
will re-scan every ten minutes, but if set to re-scan less frequently
it may be some time before any new items show up.

Thanks for your answer.
I have the same keyboard layout that you used.
maybe its work for you because you entered random data. I show you
what my problem is on 2 pictures:)

Okay, so that looks like it is finding what you are looking for, but
it isn't sorting the results in the order you expect. It could be
that the items you want have had their ranking scores reduced in
comparison to other items. If you use an item a lot, it will be given
a higher score and will appear higher in the list than other items.
Use the proper item a few times and its rank should increase.

It could also be that the ranking system is having difficulty with
using Russian. If the first suggestion doesn't help, you might test
out the TextMate Ranker plugin to see if it helps.

The top of the results list has a little noticed gear menu with some
options for how the list is sorted and filtered. Perhaps changing
those settings could help determine if its a bug or not.

Oh, I see. I misunderstood.

Try this:

Go into your QS catalogue and select Modules from the sidebar. First
make sure that the Address Book entry is activated (it should have a
check mark in the box next to it). Then, with the Address Book entry
selected, press the "i" button at the bottom of the QS preferences
window to open the information window. Make sure all of your address
book entries are activated.

Hm. Well, if they are all in there and all activated, then I am out
of ideas. Did you try the TextMate Ranker plugin?

I found the reason why the plugins dont work properly. They cannot
find russian capital letters, so when i edit the names in my adress
book or i tunes and change all first capital letters to small letters
quicksilver find them all, but this is not a solution. What can i do?

You are right. I just reproduced the same problem using Greek
characters. In fact, for me it didn't work even to find a folder with
a Greek capital letter in its name.

By the look of it, the problem is not with the plugins, but rather
with the core Quicksilver application itself. It appears that QS
cannot match non-Latin lowercase characters with uppercase characters
when they are typed into the command window. This is definitely a bug.
Our best hope until Alcor releases his new version of QS one day is to
ask one of the volunteer developers to tackle this for us. I'm going
to send an email to Etienne Samson to ask if he could take a look at
this.

Okay, I played with it a little bit more, and here is what I found:

The first non-Latin character you type into QS will only be used to
match catalogue items that have the lowercase version of that
character. The second character will match anything with lowercase or
uppercase versions of the character.

Here is an example using Greek characters, but it will work the same
with Cyrillic and others:

Say I have three files named Δηρα_Ζω1, δηρα_ζω2, and δηρα_Ζω3. If I
start my QS search by typing a delta (lowercase δ, uppercase Δ), only
the last two files will be found, even though all three files start
with a delta. This is because the first file has a capital delta.
However, if I start my search by typing an eta (η), all three files
will be found. Moreover, after I type an eta, I can type a zeta
(lowercase ζ, uppercase Ζ) and all three files will still match, event
though some files have an uppercase zeta.

What this means for you, Iwan, is that until someone fixes this bug,
you can work around it by starting your searches using the second
character is a contact's name instead of the first character. So if
you are looking for Ландыши, try typing андыши. It is annoying, I
know, but it is the best we can do for now.
