ugh - all my experience with computers and a silly thing like this
gets in the way.
trying to install B53 and yet i've been tripped up by something
stupid: file compression. i just can't uncompress
QS.3815.dmg.bz
under OS 10.5. Both OSX's Archive Utility.app and the third-party
Zipeg.app produce QS.3815.dmg.bz.cpgz (CPGZ is a new one to me).
hrmm, ok, let's try opening that, and it uncompresses to... another
QS.3815.dmg.bz. they'll just go back and forth like that forever.
meanwhile:
****************************************************
$ tar -xvjf
QS.3815.dmg.bz
tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Skipping to next header
bzip2: (stdin): trailing garbage after EOF ignored
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
****************************************************
what am i missing here? what's wrong with using plain ol' .zip? and
why is QS's internal updater failing?
too bad my first post here is to complain - i really love this
software.
