Hotels:
The meeting is designed to coincide with DLF. DLF is taking place at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore (http://baltimore.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp). It looks, however, like the Hyatt is booked up for the day after DLF. Worth asking about.
The closest hotel to campus (i.e. within walking distance) is The Colonnade (http://www.colonnadebaltimore.com/). This is where all the parents stay for move-in, graduation, etc.
If you’ll have a car, staying in Towson (Baltimore’s northern suburb, about 15-20min away) is an option. The website for the Sheraton Baltimore North is: http://www.sheratonbaltimorenorth.com/
If you will not have a car, staying in the Inner Harbor will probably afford you the most transportation options. A good list of Inner Harbor hotels can be had here: http://wikitravel.org/en/Baltimore/Inner_Harbor#Sleep
Getting to Baltimore:
Drive. I-95, I-83, and I-70 will get you close. Google Maps it, folks.
Train. My favorite mode of transportation. Baltimore Penn Station is on the Amtrak Northeast Regional line (DC to Boston via Philly & NYC), as well as a number of others. http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=am/am2Station/Station_Page&code=BAL
MARC Train. This is the commuter train that goes between DC and Baltimore and a few outer suburbs. Closest to campus will be the Penn Line, stopping at Penn Station. http://mta.maryland.gov/marc-train
Aeroplane. BWI is the closest airport (http://www.bwiairport.com/en). There’s an Amtrak stop outside of BWI that you can use to get into Penn Station for a few bucks. A taxi from BWI to Downtown will be a flat rate of $35.
Hang glide. Don’t do that. That’s crazy.
Getting to Campus:
Drive. Again, Google Maps is your friend. You’re trying to get to the Homewood Campus. 3400 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21218
Taxis. There’s plenty of ‘em. A ride from Downtown/Inner Harbor to campus will probably run you about $10-$15.
Charm City Circulator. This is the Baltimore free bus system that primarily travels around the Inner Harbor (and a good reason to stay in the Inner Harbor). http://www.charmcitycirculator.com/ This will not get you directly to campus. The purple line’s northernmost stop is Penn Station. From there you can transfer to...
Johns Hopkins Shuttle. This is a free shuttle system that goes between the different Hopkins Campuses. Also stops at Penn Station. http://www.parking.jhu.edu/shuttles_jhmi_homewood.html
MTA Bus. The regular ole city bus system. Not free. http://mta.maryland.gov/local-bus
Hope this helps. If you have more specific questions, feel free to e-mail me off-list.
