On May 27, in the vicinity of the villages of X&rxa and Bellac&rka, Feim Gashi from Drenoc, Sadik Bella^a from Pata^an and P&rparim Ali Tha^i (1977) from Landovica were killed by the Serbian police. On May 29, Rexhep Sadiku from the village of Nivokaz and Halit Asllani from Brovina were killed by the Serbian forces. Xhafer Krasniqi was killed in unknown circumstances. On May 29, Xheladin Neziri was wounded during the shelling of Kopiliq i Posht&m near Sk&nderaj. He died due to injuries suffered. The very same day, during the shelling of the village of Vranoc, district of Peja, the following were killed: Beqir Rrustem Krasniqi (49), a khoja, Imer Elez Ukaj (50), Faz& Zenun Krasniqi (43) and Halit Krasniqi (50). Many were wounded. On May 30, Fatmir Xhemajli (28) from the village of Kopiliq near Sk&nderaj was killed in his house. He died from the police shelling. On May 31, the corpse of Sami Bogiqi (35) was found in Llapushnik. He was killed on May 29. On May 31, the police forces that conquered the village of Poklek i Ri near Gllogoc, massacred Albanians by cutting their throats in the presence of women and children. The following were killed: Ardian Haxhi Deliu (18), Ahmet Berisha (40), Sefer Qorri (55), Sahit Qorri (55), Hajriz Hajdini (45), Muhamet Hajdini (50), Blerim Shishani (14) and 3 unidentified persons. An eyewitness claims to have seen blood stains and human organs in the spot of the crime. Policemen placed weapons near the killed and took photos of them. 26 houses were burnt and 10 were demolished. Drugs were seized from Xhevdet Pajaziti's chemist's shop and his house was burnt. In Komoran, 300 m of road were mined. On May 31, the situation in the villages in the district of De^an as well as in the neighboring villages is dramatic. A war is fought between Serbian police, military and paramilitary forces and Albanian villagers. The number of casualties is unknown but it is supposed to be very high. CDHRF possesses information that Shaqir Dobraj (80), Hate Blakaj (60) and Ajmane Balaj were killed in Carrabreg i Ep&rm; Xaj& Curri (47) in De^an; Arif Mahmutaj (44) and Rexhep Pavataj in Strellc whereas many others were wounded. According to information from our Sub-CDHRF in De^an, during the shelling of the villages of Carrabreg i Posht&m and Carrabreg i Ep&rm, Lubeniq, Isniq, Beleg, Strellc i Ep&rm, Kryshec, Rastavic&, Vranoc and Prejlep the following were killed: Tafil Kasumaj (47) and Shaban Kasumaj (43) from Lloqan; Besart Dautaj (12) and Teuta Loshaj from Carrabreg i Ep&rm; Shyhrete Jeftaj from De^an; Avni Adem P&rgjegjaj (32) from Lumbardh; Hajdar Uk& Ukshinaj and Mehmet Uk& Ukshinaj from Lubeniq. Two unidentified Albanians were killed in Strell i Ep&rm. Most of the killed have not been buried yet. It is supposed that the number of killed and wounded is much higher. Serbian forces are looting, destroying and setting fire to the houses which were not destroyed during the shelling. On May 29, in the vicinity of the watchtower in Morina, on the border with Albania, Dragan Ignjatoviq (26) from Brestovc i Ep&rm, a sergeant with the Yugoslav army, and soldiers Vojkan Matiq (21) from T&rnjan and Dushan Tasiq (21) from Pozharevc, were killed. Vladica Gjorgjeviq (24) from Prominja, a sub-lieutenant and Zharko Milosavleviq (19), a soldier from Belina, were wounded. The military forces arrested or as stated by the Military Headquarters of the Yugoslav Army captured 11 Albanians. In the village of Resnik near Vushtrria, the corpse of Milan Zhiviq (70) was found. In De^an, Serbian police arrested 70 Albanians. Some 200 women, children and elderly are kept hostage in the premises of the "Dekor" enterprise. THE COURSE OF EVENTS: MAY 27: RAHOVEC: At about 10.30 p.m., between the villages of X&rxa and Bellac&rka, Serbian police shot Feim Gashi from Drenoc; Shaip Bellaqa from Pata^an and P&rparim Ali Tha^i (1977) from Landovica near Prizren, a student with the "Xhevdet Doda" Pedagogical High School and football player of the "Liria" FC in Prizren. Islam Gashi from Drenoc was severely wounded. SK&NDERAJ: 2 heavy cannons were placed at the police check-point in the outskirts of Llausha. The house of Halit Geci was shelled. Raza Geci and Sahit Fejzullahu (70) were wounded. In the vicinity of the check-point in Morina police demolished the shop of Nuredin Deliu from Rezalla. Police ordered Avdullah Bajraktari from Klina e Ep&rme to return the goods he had bought in Mitrovica. The supplying with food in Sk&nderaj and in other villages in the Drenica region has become more difficult. Police is seizing goods from passengers. Out of 3 bakeries in Sk&nderaj only one is working. Police threatened its owner not to send bread out of the town. Avni Shala from Buroja, who had been wounded during the shelling of his house and who was taken for hospitalization to the Mitrovica Hospital was taken by the police and sent to an unknown direction. GJAKOVA: Police raided the houses of Agim Mullatahiri and Shukrane Fetiu. They arrested Florian Berisha (17) and his relative Lim Shaban Deda from Baballo^. In Rakovina, police surveyed the terrain especially towards the villages of Kralan, C&rmjan, Palabardh and Bec. Police seized all the machinery from the "Dugagjini" enterprise: trucks, dredges, etc. The humanitarian aid which was seized by the Serbian police was sent to the "Metohia Promet" shop and was given to the Serbian population. On May 25, Besa Arllati and dr. Fehmi Vula, activists of the LDK, were arrested. On May 27, they were released but ordered to report again. Police demanded their help in the release of the 2 policemen who were taken hostage in Smolica. They were threatened, their families, the Board of the LDK branch and the entire town. Jah& Sadria (1958), an associate of the "Bujku" journal, is still being kept in arrest. PRIZREN: On May 26, police in the "Ortakolli" quarter arrested Afron Luan Planeja, living in "Gjerdapi" st. VII/5-19; Agron Islam Byty^i, "Ulqini" st. 68 and Sk&nder Halit Deliaj, "Sami Koka" st. They were taken to the police station and severely ill-treated. Their car was demolished and the car's radio was seized. The next day they were released. FERIZAJ: 5 policemen intervened in the premises of the "Ganimete Terbeshi" Primary School in Ferizaj and interrupted the meeting of the LDK sub-branch. Dalip Haliti (1978) from the village of Jezerc was arrested at the bus station in Shkup. He was brutally beaten and DM 200 were seized from him. MITROVICA: In the vicinity of the villages of Vidishiq and Gushavc, in the place called "Istikam", 15 policemen were stationed. They surveyed the village, stopped passers-by, shot from fire weapons and provoked the locals. MALISHEVA: Qerim Hoti (1949) from Carralluka was brutally beaten at the police check-point in Duhla. Due to injuries suffered he had to seek for medical help. PRISHTINA: Nexhmedin Selim Lekaj (1966) from the village of Lumbardh in the district of De^an and his wife Have Ukshini-Lekaj (1968) from Morina, district of Gjakova, were repatriated from Switzerland and cannot go to their villages since they are under police blockade, their houses were shelled and their families had fled. Hava is ill and undergoing treatment. MAY 28: SK&NDERAJ: Serbian forces shelled the villages of Llausha, Kryshec, Kopiliq i Ul&t, Buroja, Vojnika, A^areva and Turiqec. There was automatic fire in Sk&nderaj. In the vicinity of the bus station police kidnapped an Albanian. During the shelling of the villages of Kopiliq i Ul&t and Turiqec many houses caught fire. Nezir Bajram Shala (28) from Kopiliq was wounded in his house yard. The houses which were not damaged are targeted by Serbian military forces. GLLOGOC: Serbian police and military forces shelled the houses of Hajdin, Habib, Muhamet, Rrustem, Xhemajl and Sali Dervishi; Ismajl Karaxha and Beqir Mehani in ^ikatova e Vjet&r and that of Xhemajl Avdyli in Dobroshec. Snipers are targeting the villagers. In ^ikatova e Vjet&r they opened fire towards Ruzhdi and Muhamet Karaxha. Fadil Dervishi (95), Xhemajl (72) and Kamber Karaxha (52) were blocked in their houses. The cattle belonging to Isuf and Sali Muzhaku; Avdi ^avdari; Veli and Xheladin Hoti was stuck in their stables. DE^AN: As an aftermath of the recent police and military attacks, hundreds of Albanians are stuck in their houses and flats. From the positions in "Podi i G&shtenjave" the villages of Beleg, Carrabreg i Posht&m and Carrabreg i Ep&rm are shelled. There is shooting towards the village of Baballo^ and within the town itself. PRIZREN: In the Serbian run District Court in Prizren the following were sentenced: Xhemshit Krasniqi, 7 years of imprisonment (in absentia); Mehmet Mem^aj - 6; Xhevat Berisha and Hajrim ^engaj - 3,6; Mursel Osmanaj - 3; Begush Bajrami was released due to lack of evidence. Police arrested Qerim Mamusha, an activist of the LDK. They searched for Muhamet Bajram Krasniqi and Lulzim Esat Krasniqi, activists of the LDK Youth Forum, and Adem Shala, who is abroad. RAHOVEC: An armored car and other vehicles full of policemen were stationed in the village of Opterusha. Nahit Malush Elshani was severely beaten. Other passers-by were insulted and ill-treated. VUSHTRRI: During the peaceful protests in Vushtrria, police intervened and physically ill-treated the following: Arben Zymer Jusufi (17) and Hazir Ismet Jusufi (16), pupils with the "Marin Be^ikemi" Secondary School, Akil Osmani from Bukosh and many others. At the police check-point in Nedakoc, Lan Lani from Pestova was taken out of the bus and physically ill-treated. PRISHTINA: During the last 3 days, police and the compulsive authorities in "Higjieno-Teknika" sent Albanian and Gypsy workers to the "Feronikli" Plant in Gllogoc and forced them to pile sacks with sand and to open trenches. GJILAN: During the last 2 days, a large number of local Serbs were mobilized. They were sent to the regions in which the fighting are taking place. Due to such a situation the freedom of movement is limited. In the village of Pasjan, police seized 385 copies of the "Zogu i Mengjezit" children magazine and 790 copies of "Moll&kuqja". KA^ANIK: Police arrested Shaban Mehmet Jakupi (1975), living in "Ramadan Agushi" st. 84. He was severely ill-treated under the pretext that he wore a T-shirt with the letters KLA. SUHAREKA: In the vicinity of the villages of Samadrexha and Reti, 7 armed Serbian civilians brutally beat-up Samir Spahiu (1983), Milazim Zogaj (1983), Haxhi Hysenaj (1983) and Maxhun Zeqaj (1980), pupils with the "Dituria" Primary School. The children were pasturing the cattle. They were threatened with weapons, insulted on a national basis and interrogated on the KLA. FERIZAJ: A police squad was stationed in the village of Tankosiq and ill-treated passers-by. Afet Qamil Salihu (1969) was arrested for weapons. He was physically ill-treated and insulted on a national and moral basis. A military convoy paraded through the village of Bibaj. Soldiers provoked the villagers by pointing their guns towards them and by singing Chetnik songs. Many military vehicles headed for Shtime. PODUJEVA: A squad of 30 policemen was stationed in the village of Lup^ i Posht&m. Many passers-by were stopped, ill-treated and looted. 3 policemen physically ill-treated Xhem& Koliqi from Lup^. DM 40 were looted from him. MITROVICA: Police at the check-point in Nedakoc stopped and turned back 3 trucks with aid from the "Mother Theresa" Humanitarian & Charitable Association (12 t of washing powder and 5 t of salt) dedicated to the poor in Mitrovica. Police prevented the protest walks in Mitrovica and ill-treated passers-by. Sylejman Sherif Zeneli (37) from Shipkovc suffered injuries. 25 policemen, in the vicinity of the primary school in V&rnica, beat-up 10 Albanians. Among those ill-treated were the following: Rrahim Sokol Islami (46), a teacher with the "Azem Bejta" Primary School in the village of Prekaz i Ep&rm, Bahtir Arif Ferizi (46), an educator in the "Migjeni" Primary School - both from Mikushica and Halit Milazim Haliti (57) from Kozhica. In the "Bair" quarter, a drunk policeman physically ill-treated Shefqet Mehmet Hoxha (75) and his son Bajram (49). They were threatened with liquidation. VITI: 2 policemen beat-up Selvije Avdyli (1985), a pupil with the "Faik Konica" Primary School. She suffered body injuries. FUSH& KOSOVA: Maliq Berisha, chairman, Sabit Hykolli and Jakup T&rnava, inspectors of the District Educational Council and Isak Gojnofci, chairman of the District Financial Council, were taken for informative talks to the police station. HANI I ELEZIT: After the protest walks in Hani i Elezit, soldiers from the military barracks opened fire towards a group of protesters. MAY 29: GJAKOVA: Large police and military forces headed for the villages of Palabardh and Bistesh. These villages are in flame due to the shelling. Police is destroying and looting the abandoned houses in the villages of Morina, Ponoshec, Stublla, Popoc and Berjaha. Police and military movements can be noticed towards the villages of Radoniq, Bec and Cermjan. The village of Baballo^ in the district of De^an, Gradisha, Fshaj, Gexha and other villages in the district of Rahovec and the region on the border with Albania were shelled. Military units (tanks and infantry) are participating in the operation. Rexhep Sadiku from Nivokaz and Halit Asllani from Brovina were killed by the Serbian forces. Xhafer Krasniqi was killed in unknown circumstances. 2 members of the Serbian police and military forces were brought to the morgue of the Gjakova Hospital. The shelling of the Albanian villages in the districts of De^an and Gjakova continues. Serbian forces had considerable losses. The information service of the Military Headquarters of the Yugoslav Army, stated that on May 29, in the vicinity of the watchtower in Morina, on the border with Albania, Dragan Ignjatoviq (26), a sergeant from Brestovc i Ep&rm and soldiers, Vojkan Matiq (21) from T&rnjan near Leskoc and Dushan Tasiq (21) from Pozharevc were killed. Sub- lieutenant, Vladica Gjorgjeviq (24) from Podrimja near Prokupla and Zharko Milosavleviq (19), a soldier from Belina near Vladimirovc were wounded. 11 Albanians were arrested, allegedly "captured during the attack". The situation in the town itself (in which more than 7000 people from the attacked villages have sought shelter) is very grave due to the lack of food and medicine. The raiding, arrests, ill- treatments of political activists and looting of goods continue. Famine threatens the town and its surroundings. The town is blocked and the phone lines are cut. The Serbian staff of the Health Center has stopped its work. It is supposed that the Serbian police and military forces are preparing a wide-scale attack. GLLOGOC: Since early in the morning, police and military units from the check-point in Komoran, from the "Feronikli" Plant in Gllogoc and from the military base in ^uka e Zabelit began a combined attack on the Drenica region. During the clashes many Albanians were wounded, many houses were damaged, burned or destroyed. From the police check-point in Komoran, 300 grenades were fired towards Llapushnik and 200 towards Fushtica e Poshtme. Many quarters in these 2 villages were burnt to the ground. Serbian forces are using heavy weaponry: armored cars, tanks, cannons and mortars. The villages of Negroc, Vukoc, Korrotica, Zabel i Posht&m, Kishnareka, Fushtica e Poshtme, ^ikatova e Vjet&r, Dobroshec and Gllanasella were attacked. 3 tanks from the military base in ^uka shelled the Zogaj quarter. The villagers are resisting the attackers. Yet, a large number of people, mainly women, children and elderly have fled their houses and were sheltered in safer regions. In the village of Gllanasella, many missiles fell in the vicinity of the "Rilindja" Primary School and in the Berisha and Mehanaj quarters. In the Vukoci quarter in Llapushnik, Serbian police opened fire and severely wounded Sahit Sefer Berisha (65) while trying to rescue his cattle from the burning stable. >From the police check-point in Komoran fire was opened on the flats of Albanian families in Gllogoc. The flats of Vehbi Bashota, Shaqir Hoxha, Ahmet Morina, dr. Murat Tahiraj and Selvete Nishori, a nurse, were hit. In ^ikatova e Re, the house of Ymer Gllareva was hit. In Komoran, police looted the shops of Elez Zogu, Naim Gjoshi, Bajram Gashi, Tahir Uka, Elmi Morina, Avdi Hyseni, Smajl Shala, Agim Berisha and Xhel& Krasniqi. They looted the shops in the Nuhaj quarter and burnt the cattle food belonging to Bajram Gashi, Salih and Ali Zogu. More than 80% of the houses were burnt in the Bogaj, Krasniqi (Kara^ica) and Tha^i (^upat) quarters as well as in Vukoc. Serbian forces are setting fire to the remaining houses. Ali Bogaj (75); Vesel Bogaj and his wife Vahide Bogaj; Xhemajl Tha^i (1951) and his wife Nexhmije Tha^i (1952); as well as Mexhit Bogaj were arrested and taken to the police station in Gllogoc for informative talks. Xhemajl Tha^i was severely ill-treated. SK&NDERAJ: In Kopiliq i Ul&t, Muj& Jetish Mala (60), Xheladin Neziri, Fatmir Xhemajli (28) and Valon Milazimi (15) were wounded due to shelling. Xheladin Neziri died of injuries suffered. In A^areva, the house of Kamber Haxha was shelled. From the hills in the vicinity of Buroja, Serbian police and military forces are shelling the surrounding villages. PEJA: Serbian police and military forces shelled the villages in Lugu i Baranit, Vranoc, Kryshec and Zllopek. Many were killed or wounded, many houses were burnt and destroyed. According to information available during the shelling of Vranoc, Beqir Rrustem Krasniqi (49), a khoja, Imer Elez Ukaj (50), Faz& Zenun Krasniqi (43) and Halit Krasniqi were killed. Ismet, Met& and Cuf& Krasniqi were wounded. The houses of Ram&, Zymer, Naim, Gani, Ali, Emrush, Zenun, Sadik, Isuf, Shk&lzen, Ramush and Rexh& Krasniqi were damaged, burnt or destroyed. In Zllopek, Vesel (40), Istref (25) and Daut I. Dizdari (22) were arrested. The very same happened to Selman and Smajl H. Elezaj from Boriq and Benxhamin Mazrekaj from Peja. Serbian forces shelled the village of Lubeniq. Many houses were burnt or damaged. DE^AN: From the Rogopeci hill, Serbian police and military forces shelled the village of Junik. Afterwards, they entered the village. It is supposed that one Albanian was killed and that many houses were damaged. The locals of Junik managed to flee from the village. KLINA: Serbian forces re-started the attacks on the villages of K&puz and Miliqeva. Hundreds of missiles were fired on these 2 villages. PRIZREN: At about 9 p.m., the corpses of a military superior and that of a soldier were brought to the morgue of the hospital in Prizren. The entrance to the morgue is guarded by soldiers and armed civilians. SHTIME: More than 300 Albanians, mainly women and children who fled from the attacked villages in the district of Gllogoc, arrived in Pjet&rshtica. Agim Krasniqi from Duga, a pupil with the "Naim Frash&ri" Secondary School in Shtime was taken out of the bus and physically ill-treated. KA^ANIK: Mehmet Fikri Jakupi (1951), an activist of the LDK, Musa Zeqir V&rbani (1964), imam with the Ka^aniku mosque and former political prisoner, Fevzi Faik Krasniqi (1954) and Ramiz Bajrush Shehu (1952), chairman of the local branch of the Association of Former Political Prisoners, were arrested in their houses by the police. VUSHTRRI: Visar Muharrem Kadriu (13), a pupil with the "Mustaf& Venhari" Primary School, was severely beaten-up by the police. In the village of Resnik, the corpse of Milan Zhiviq (70) was found. He died in unknown circumstances. MITROVICA: In the vicinity of the green market, police stopped Dibran Jetullah ^ela (25) from Reshan. He was taken for informative talks, interrogated on the KLA, severely ill-treated and threatened with the words "we will liquidate all the Albanians". Police prevented the protests in Mitrovica and did not allow the work of the market. Many passers-by were ill-treated by the police. In the vicinity of the green market, police beat up Bekim Mustaf& Tahiri (10); in the center of the town, 2 armed inspectors and 2 policemen arrested Gazmend Sefer Peci (25) and Ilir Zenel Peci (23) from Boletin, whereas, in the vicinity of the military headquarters, 5 policemen beat up Xhevdet (32), Rexhep (22) and Rafet Shaban Musliu (18) from Zasella; and Ramadan Abaz Ferizi (47) from Zhabar. PRISHTINA: Phone lines with Peja, De^an, Gjakova, Klina, Sk&nderaj etc., were disconnected by Serbian administration. Serbian forces blocked the roads towards these places. Traffic is limited. Some policemen stopped Milaim Krasniqi (1964) from Sushica, a bill collector with the District Financial Council. They seized the means he had gathered and physically ill-treated him. After the peaceful protests police physically ill-treated students Fitim Gashi (1978) and Agim Berisha (1974) from Pozhar near De^an. In the village of Gra^anica, in the suburb of Prishtina, a group of unidentified Serbs threw stones, provoked and threatened the family of Miradije Baj^inca (1947), a housewife. Unless they leave Gra^anica within 24 hours, they would be executed. This is the only Albanian house in this quarter. GJILAN: Drita Shkodra (1973), an employee with the "Inter Europa" private Enterprise, "Qenar ^eshme" st. 2, and member of the LDK Youth Forum in Gjilan was taken for informative talks at the Security Center. Isak Maliqi (1953), a teacher with the "Emin Duraku" Primary School in Malisheva, was stopped in the outskirts of Presheva, physically ill-treated and was not allowed access to the town. FERIZAJ: Police intervened against the protesters and beat up many of them, especially women and elderly. The following were ill- treated: Faik Emini (71) from Komogllava, Ramiz Isuf Kurteshi from V&rban near Vitia, Lavdije Osmani (1979) from Jezerc, Nexhat Aliu from Bibaj, Halil Ibishi (77), Ismajl Ramadani (1958), Florim Imeri and Naim Ramadani from Ferizaj. Naim was arrested and ordered to report to the police and tell the "organizers of the protests". Serb civilians joined the policemen in chasing and beating the protesters. HANI I ELEZIT: Zylbehar Hasallari, chairman, and Kadri Zeka, member of the chairmanship of the LDK branch, as well as Menduh Vlashi and Emrush Dernjani, principals of the "Tefik ^anga" and "Dardania" Primary Schools, were taken for informative talks to the police station and ordered to stop the protest walks. MAY 30: GLLOGOC: At 4.30 a.m., Serbian police units stationed in the "Feronikli" Plant headed for the Llapushiku Gorge. Serbian forces from the military base in ^uka e Zabelit shelled the Zogaj quarter, ^ikatova e Vjet&r, Dobroshec and Fushtica. In the Llapushniku Gorge, clashes occurred between the Serbian forces and the Albanian defenders. Serbian forces used tanks and armored cars. Fighting lasted until 11.00 p.m. In the village of Grejkoc, the policlinic of the "Mother Theresa" Humanitarian & Charitable Association was hit. During the last 2 days, more than 50 houses were burnt in Komoran, Llapushnik and Zabel i Posht&m. In Llapushnik and Vukoc, the houses of the Kara^ica, Bogaj and Tha^i quarters are still in flames. In Poklek i Ri, Serbian forces kidnapped 17 Albanian villagers. On being tortured 13 were released. There is no information on the whereabouts of 4. SK&NDERAJ: Serbian forces shelled the villages of Llausha, Buroja, Vojnika, Kopiliq and Turi^ec. Due to shelling, Fatmir Xhemajli was killed in his house; Valon Milazimi (28), Muj& Jetish Mala (60) and Xheladin Neziri - from Kopiliq, were wounded. In Llausha, Arsim Bajram Geci (22) was wounded in his house yard. In Buroja, 2 houses belonging to Ismail Kastrati were completely burnt and destroyed. Many houses were looted. Many houses were damaged in the Binakaj quarter in the village of Vojnik. DE^AN: Serbian forces shelled the villages of Junik, Gllogjan, Shaptej, Grama^el and Baballo^. Many villagers were wounded. There is information that the Serbian forces had losses in men and technique. Many wounded policemen were brought to the Gjakova Hospital. In the village of Bitesh, the houses of Ded& Gjergjaj and Llesh Lleshi were burnt due to shelling. Many houses were burnt and destroyed in Junik. GJAKOVA: There was shooting towards the villages of Reka e Keqe. The town is still under siege and there is a huge lack of food and medicine. In the outskirts of Gjakova, Serbian police arrested 8 youngsters and 7 elderly. They were severely ill-treated and kept in arrest until late in the night. At the check-point in Bishtazin, police stopped foreign journalists and prevented them from going to Gjakova. FERIZAJ: 3 tanks and many military vehicles left the military barracks in Ferizaj and headed for Shtime. At 9.20 a.m., an APC paraded through the center of the town. Soldiers kept their weapons pointed towards passers-by. Police intervened against the protesters and brutally beat Adil ^erkini (1983) from the village of Zaskok. Due to injuries suffered he had to seek for medical help. PRISHTINA: In the "Kodra e Diellit" quarter, 25 policemen raided the flats of Nimon Beqiraj, Avdi Visoka, Idriz Mehmeti, Ramiz Balidemaj, Nexhat Krasniqi, Fehim Rexhepi and Faruk Berisha. Nexhat Krasniqi, an employee with the International Red Cross in Prishtina, was arrested. VUSHTRRI: A police patrol physically ill-treated the following workers of the "Poleti" Textile Factory in Vushtrria: Shyqri Hajrizi and Xhafer Mustafa from Strofc; Ahmet Ibrahimi and Hazir Murati from Bequk; and Zeqir Sara^i from Gllavotin. VITI: At the police check-point in G&rlica Burim Rrahman Rrahmani (1980) from Smira and Emrush Ukshin Ukshini (1980) from Sadovina e Jerlive were physically ill-treated. MAY 31: DE^AN: Dramatic situation in the district of De^an. There are many killed, wounded and kidnapped. Many houses are in flame and were destroyed to the ground. During the last 3 days, there were clashes between Serbian police, military and paramilitary forces with Albanian defence forces. A war is being waged in the villages of Carrabreg i Posht&m, Carrabreg i Ep&rm, Beleg, Dranoc, Hulaj, Rastavica, Baballo^, Grama^el, Dubovik, Isniq and Strellc in the district of De^an; Lubeniq, Kryshec, Vranoc and other villages in the district of Peja. The number of casualties is unknown but it is supposed that there are tens of killed and wounded. The following were killed: Shaqir Dobraj (80), Hate Blakaj (60), Ajmane Balaj (50), Besart Dautaj (12) and Teuta Loshaj (21) from Carrabreg i Ep&rm; Shyhrete Jeftaj and Xaj& Curr Kuqi (47) from De^an; Avni Adem P&rgjegjaj (32) from Lumbardh; Hajdar Uk& Ukshinaj and Mehmet Uk& Ukshinaj from Lubeniq. Isa Curr Kuqi and his mother were wounded. 2 unidentified Albanians were killed in Strellc i Ep&rm. In Isniq, Muhamet Bojku, Burim Bruqi (11), Rexhep Bruqi (8), Granit Januzaj (11), Arsim Januzaj (10) and 2 other children were wounded. In the village of Kryshec, Demush G&rvalla was wounded and 6 houses were shelled. It is supposed that the number of casualties is much higher but due to difficulties in reaching the attacked regions the information cannot be verified. Most of the killed have not been buries yet. Soldiers and paramilitary units are looting and burning goods. In De^an, more than 20 houses were destroyed to the ground and some 70 Albanians were arrested. There is no information on their whereabouts. Some 200 women, children and elderly are kept hostage in the premises of the "Dekor" enterprise. The houses which were not shelled by the Serbian artillery were burnt by the Serbian infantry. The population is facing a lack of food. GLLOGOC: Serbian police and military forces stationed at the police check-point in Komoran, the military base in ^uka e Zabelit and the "Feronikli" Plant in Gllogoc attacked the villages of ^ikatova e Vjet&r, Dobrashec, Poklek i Ri and Poklek i Vjet&r. At noon, Serbian forces attacked and conquered the village of Poklek i Ri. >From there they shelled Poklek i Vjet&r. Serbian snipers opened fire towards this village. Many houses are burning. Women and children were expelled from their homes, whereas the men were arrested or massacred. There is no information on the number of casualties. During the police attack on May 29, Sami Bogiqi from the village of Vukoc was killed. Fadil Demaku from Obria e Ep&rme near Gllogoc was wounded. In Poklek i Ri, 10 Albanians were massacred: Ardian Haxhi Deliu (18), Ahmet Berisha (40), Sefer Qorri (55), Sahit Qorri (55), Hajriz Hajdini (45), Muhamet Hajdini (50?), Blerim Shishani (14) and 3 unidentified persons. According to those who witnessed the crime the men were killed in the presence of women and children. Their throats were cut. 26 houses were burnt and 10 were demolished. In Komoran, 300 m of road were mined. SK&NDERAJ: Serbian forces shelled the village of Llausha. A girl was wounded while pasturing the cattle. PEJA: The already tense situation is deteriorating. There were clashes in the village of Raushiq, 1 km from Peja. Large police re- enforcement were brought and were stationed in the Footwear Combine, "Karaga^i" motel and the military barracks in Peja. KLINA: Police arrested Pren Buzhala, journalist of the "Bujku" daily, member of the Board of the LDK branch in Klina. The town is in complete blockade. There is a lack of food. Bakeries do not work. The Serbian regime seized the wheat from the district's silo. RAHOVEC: The situation continues to be tense. There is a large presence of Serbian armed forces. There are large police movements towards Gjakova and the border with Albania. NOVOB&RDA: A group of Serbian refugees provoked Kurdi Makolli (1948) and his family. PRISHTINA: Military forces were stationed in different parts of town, in G&rmia, Hajvalia and Mati^an. The phone lines with Gjakova, Peja, Klina and Sk&nderaj were cut. All traffic is limited. According to the Office of the Republic of Kosova in Tirana, a group of about 100 Albanians have fled the attacked regions and were sheltered in Albania. A delegation from Gjakova met with the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Prishtina. They asked from the above mentioned to put pressure on the Serbian authorities for the release of dr. Fehmi Vula, a surgeon and member of the Board of the LDK branch in Gjakova; Besa Arllati, chairman of the Committee for Information and Jah& Sadria, journalist of the "Rilindja" daily. The three are kept as hostage by the police. DELAYED INFORMATION: MALISHEVA: On May 17, police at the train station in Fush& Kosova stopped Gonxhe Maloku, a student from Pllo^ica near Malisheva. She was interrogated on the Emergency Council. Medical supply dedicated to the "Mother Theresa" Humanitarian & Charitable Association in Pllo^ica was seized. She was twice taken to the police station and interrogated on the KLA. Her passport was seized. On May 25, police in the vicinity of Prizren stopped Deli Ahmet Krasniqi and Lat& Isa Krasniqi from Drenoc. They were interrogated on the KLA and physically ill-treated. FUSH& KOSOVA: On May 23, some 80 armed Serbian civilians from Bresja, who were led by Dobrica Laziq, chairman of the compulsive authorities in the District Assembly in Fush& Kosova, destroyed the wall surrounding the house of Basri Peqani (1949), a khoja from Bresja. OBILIQ: On May 25, police in the village of Palaj physically ill- treated Rakip and Bekim Simnica, taxi-drivers from Lajthishta. They were accused of taking an asylum-seeker repatriated from Germany to the district of De^an. PRISHTINA: On May 25-26, Serbian police at the Belgrade airport arrested Fadil Ibishi (1962) from Prishtina, "Dardania" quarter B- 9/2, an asylum-seeker repatriated from Norway. He was physically ill-treated. GLLOGOC: On May 26, police demolished the house of Asllan Gollubovci from Korrotica e Ep&rme and the premises of the Hunter's Association. In the vicinity of the "Kosovatransi" bus station, police and military forces slaughtered 6 lambs belonging to Hamdi Bucolli. SK&NDERAJ: On May 26, Serbian police and military forces shelled the village of Buroja. The village was shelled with heavy artillery. The house of Rizah Kastrati was burnt to the ground. Police opened fire from a heavy machine gun and hit the house and tractor of Sinan Geci in Llausha. Bilall and Sinan Geci were in the house. FERIZAJ: On May 26, police in the center of Ferizaj physically ill- treated Qerim Shaip Azemi from Komogllava and Eshref Osman Selmani from Lloshkobarja, pupils with the secondary school. PEJA: On May 26, police in the village of Siga severely ill-treated Qerim S. Neziraj and Zeqir Sh. Brahimaj from Novosella.
