Good { morning, afternoon, evening },

The announcement of a pre-release version on the list may come
as a surprise to some of you. :-) When preparing maintenance
updates (which primarily consist of bug fixes, with few to no
new features), we're going to post notification of the new
versions to this list, so that anyone who's interested can take
the new build for a spin.

Note that these are _pre-release_ versions. The intent is to fix
bugs and address areas of improvement based on what our
customers have reported. However, since the software is at this
point not fully tested, there _may_ be bugs and regressions. If
this prospect makes you nervous, then sticking with the public
release versions is your best course of action. Nobody will be
offended if you choose to do so; you're under no obligation to
install and use anything but a public release. :-)

Following is a summary of the changes in the software since the
last public release. The change notes are organized into
additions, changes, and fixes, and are annotated where
appropriate with case numbers. So if you recognize a number
corresponding to a support case that was opened for you, you can
now verify that it's been fixed correctly.

One final note: If you run into a bug in a pre-release version,
PLEASE DO NOT REPORT THE BUG TO THE LIST. This includes asking
about whether others have seen the same problem. Instead, please
send a bug report to <sup...@barebones.com> and we will deal
with it there. This will help us keep the list discussion on
topic and productive for all list members.

============================================================================

version 9.3.1 (2633) (11/16/2009)

Additions
---------

+ [163656, 164500] Added #! based language guessing to the Lua
language module.

Changes
-------

∆ [164816] If the document's on-disk encoding is set to use UTF-8
with a BOM, but there is an explicit character set declaration
in the document's contents which specifies "utf-8" (which
implicitly does *not* include a BOM), the "encoding mismatch"
alert is no longer presented. (You really shouldn't save
documents this way, but most modern software and user agents can
handle a UTF-8 BOM, and if they can't, you're on your own.)

Fixes
-----

- [163953] Fixed typo in control title in the Text Printing
section of the print dialog.

- [163882] Fixed POD errors in the `bbfind` man page.

- [163490] Fixed a bug where the first group of results in a search
results list were sometimes inappropriately collapsed.

- [163725] Fixed a couple of bugs related to insta-projects:
"Open File by Name" would report -43 if the front project were
an insta-project, and opening a document directly would not open
into an insta-project's window when it should have.

- [163727] When creating a temporary project for a folder 'odoc', the
top level node is expanded automatically.

- [163856, 164014] Command-D works in the "confirm save" sheet
for insta-projects (on those occasions when it's necessary).

- [164027] Fixed regression which caused bundle tool floaters
(e.g. TextSoap) to appear in the Tools menu but not run when
selected.

- [164233] Restored previous behavior of "Compare Two Front Documents".

- [164312] Refined the file filtering for multi-file Find
Differences so that files' contents are inspected to help
determine if the file is a text file. Restored the previous UI
behavior so that if a file appears in the "In Both" list,
selecting on it causes a comparison, even if the file isn't
text.

- [164501] Clicks on a disclosure triangle in a hierarchical list
are never treated as a double-click.

- [164504] Layout change to confirm-close sheet for projects.

- [164286] Fixed bug in which "New HTML Document" did not create
the document in the front project's window when it should have.

- [164632] Fixed performance regression in case-insensitive
Replace All involving single characters (which also affected
Change Case).

Someday I'll look back on all this and laugh... until they sedate me.
