A friend who speaks no Spanish left his HD radio on a Spanish
language station for 2 says while out of town. The next week he started
getting ads in the US mail in Spanish. He has never gotten this type of
stuff before. Not only will I not get HD. I sure won't get satellite
radio when they can most likely not only know what you listed to and
when bus also where. Might be fun though to change stations every few
seconds and see how their computer handles that.
How amazing! In a market that is 21% Hispanic, the chances of occasionally
getting some Spanish mailings is pretty high, especially if there is a
significant percentage of Hispanics in the particular ZIP code or area.
Yup, looks like there are tracking chips in HD radios - contact the
press, ASAP !

When I lived in a black zip code (the Western Addition on Alamo
Square) I got a lot of mail from mail order preachers, home loan
hucksters, and black-oriented grooming products. I even once got a
sample of a product similar to Afrosheen.
When I lived in the Mission, I didn't get regular junk mail in
Spanish, but I did get political campaign pamphlets in Spanish.
I think Chuckie or Mel or whoever is just delusional.
I don't know how that happened, but I did _stay_ in a Holiday Inn Express.
If we could substantiate this, then we could go to the press.
This is definately something for us to persue.

Man, this technology is something else! Last week I was _driving_ by a
Holiday Inn and a HD commercial came on the radio, and this week I also
received an mailed invite from them. Time to break out the tin foil hat.

I get them...and I don't listen to Spanish radio at all. And I live in a
lilly-white zip code!

The last two elections, I have had to specifically request English
language sample ballots after receiving Spanish-only.

Beware if you start getting junk mail about figure skating or
Australia.....
I listen to HD radio at home. A couple of days ago while I was at work a
friend called asking me about HD radio.. I told him that HD radio isn't as
good as they say.
WITHIN FOUR HOURS, someone tried to steal my motorcycle, parked at the house
where my HD radio is. Coincidence???

Was there a helicopter involved? Is so, this was far worse than you
recognized!

My Internet connectivity has been mostly down this week...right after a
week of intense bad-mouthing of HD on this newsgroup.
Coincidence?
(In the past, I would have attributed it to the fact that you can't get
decent Internet service in Silicon Valley!)
Or immigration information from the Republic of Hawaii.
They might extradite you, I hope you are fully aware...
Last week I had dinner with friends and made some anti-Bush comments.
A few day later I got a fund raising solicitation from the DNC.
Obviously nothing can be kept private.
Certainly not. It's probably IBOC hash interfering with your wireless link.
> My Internet connectivity has been mostly down this week...
Yeah, and my mind has been concentrating on
other things this week.
But taking you at your word....
My internet connectivity has not been down
for anywhere near a fraction of a week since
1995.
You are either the most unlucky son of a bitch
who has ever graced the keys of a computer,
or you need to upgrade to some reputable provider.
JESUS!!!!! I can't imagine anyone other than some
poor bastard AOL/WEBTV newbies being down for the
better part of a week.
John.... Tell us it ain't so!!!! Ice-storm???
Powerlines down?? Do you live in the Santa
Cruz Mountains???? Anything!!!! Don't
take away our will to live, with your seemingly
unmasking revelation!!!! Please!!!
Incidently, you aren't married to Phil Leotardo's
cousin are you?
It took two years to download a 30 second porn sample in 1995! Shut up
you alien.
Which ones?
The stalker hoaxs, s--t eating hams, "woger" or the one who have a
simple case on indigestion that has somehow led to be drunken
homophobic wannabes who are in line for sex crimes of their own?
There a group of newsgroups that needs to go BYE BYE
Can you pervs move your caca to binaries?

Lucky you. And I run all of my own servers (DNS, SMTP, NNTP, and even
some HTTP). When the connection goes down, my domains (and a lot of
others including some radio stations) disappear.

The problem was an upstream DS3 that (the new) AT&T couldn't figure out
how to fix so that it would stay fixed. I've already taken steps...but
this *is* Silicon Valley, where connectivity sucks.

Whoever that is!
> The real radio experts in alt.radio.shortwave agree with my claims.
Which ones? The Republic of Hawaii being a former Australian colony or
that it is legal to modify and then use a Part 15 device?
Sorry, I will not be convinced until I see it on alt.conspiracy
I hear they are censoring any mention of it there.

Wait 'till some backhoe or jackhammer cuts the cable (TV or Telco) up
the street from you and they can't repair it for a few days for all
sorts of reasons. Jumping and screaming and getting rebates on the
service don't restore said service.... been there...

Heh. I finally had it with PacBell's legacy network and 330 kbs DSL,
and attached myself to Comcast and 6 Mbps. The PacBell setup
would go down every time it rained, and their team would dutifully
come over a day or two later and rewind duct tape around
their less-than-waterproof spliced connection. Quack.
Quack.
For the home service (I'm also adding business lines), I do have a
dynamic IPA which I didn't have with PacBel, but then I'm not paying an
arm and a leg for it either. Comcast's static IPA deal on business
accounts starting at $150/mo is pretty competitive with the phone
company's T-1 lines. Am bringing one into my own Web server in
the City as an experiment.
My Internet connection has now been mostly down for a week now. I have
no reason to believe that my server will be able to even contact its
peers to inject this post into the world. I'm told that the problem is a
DS3 that "The New AT&T" cannot figure out how to keep working.
Even the Internet infrastructure is turning into dust. All of our
communications companies have turned into MLM houses.
>I'm told that the problem is a

Can't help you there. My son only administers them, not fixes them.
He gave up being a wire monkey and box-fixer right after he got his
degree in e-Business Management after all those years and anyhow he's
the "go-to" guy for the State of California account.
You knew that but you didn't hear it...savvy?
