I've been trying to find my great grand aunt Josephine - Approximate DOB 1863-1868 - daughter of Vital Coelho Pinheiro and Rosa Candida.  I've been looking through the CCA records for Terceira - Altares where they were from and found a great grand aunt Jesuina (DOB 1859) who I didn't know as one of Vital's children.

Question:  Is the name Jesuina Portuguese for Josephine? OR Should I continue looking for Josephine since the DOB's are so far apart? And if I'm looking for Josephine can you tell me the correct Portuguese translation for her name?

I'm new at this, so thank you in advance for any guidance you might be able to give me.

Roselyn,

Josephina or Josefina would be Josephine in English.  Unless Jesuina decided to use Josephine in North America.  But since the DOB are so far apart, I would keep looking.
