Hi, in an older Away3D version there were classes like LineSegment and
AbstractPrimitive that I used to draw a line circle in 3D but these
classes are gone in moire recent Away3D versions, incl. broomstick.
Can anyone tell me how to go about drawing just lines, without any
polygons? I need to re-create a WireCircle class for molehill like I
had in an older Away3D version and for that I need to draw just line
segments.
I also noticed that there seems to be no Wireframe material or any
option to show a debug wireframe on a mesh.

At the moment, the Molehill API can only draw triangles. However, the team is working on supporting line segments and wireframes using triangles. It is not trivial stuff at all. Maybe in the future, Molehill will support this, but for now we have to go around it.

Thanks for the quick reply Li! Then I have to make do with a
cylindrical plane with a hole in the middle. One other short question
while I'm at it ... is there any way to increase the clipping plane in
broomstick? I need to draw objects that are far away but they
disappear behind a clipping plane. Seems there is no API for changing
this.

The camera has a default lens of PerspectiveLens which is based on a view frustum that clips stuff. Such frustum defaults to near plane at z = 20, and far plane at z = 3000. You can change that to your liking by accessing the camera's lens.

Ah cool, because i was actually wondering about a CAD style
mathematical drawings. I wanted to try and implement some CAD style
drawing code that i built before even Papervision was about you can
see my old rough example here:

I call it a rough capsule engine. It was based around the theories of
building 3d objects out of capsules / metaballs. However using a CAD
style mathematical drawing would be awesome and by this I mean not
using triangles to create the object. Any plans for introducing
something like this or any help in using or creating a new Renderer
that would enable the GPU to handle the math would be soooooooo
helpfull??

this is being worked on - so watch carefully..... ;)
