I was doing my first experiments in Away3DLite (off the svn trunk)
after playing with Away3D for the last 6 months. I am VERY impressed
with the performance and am considering developing against it instead
of Away3D 3.x for my future projects. The link above is to the latest
post on my blog with a demo and source for my first Away3DLite
program.

I thought it might be useful to others switching from Away3D to
Away3dLite as there are quite a few subtle differences, as well as a
few big ones. One in particular is the absence of ownCanvas in
Away3DLite. The blog post and demo detail how you can achieve the
equivalent of ownCanvas in lite so that you can apply filters and
blending. Hope this proves to be helpful.

BTW, is posting demos from my blog as a learning resource and
reference allowed here?

do try explore

http://away3d.googlecode.com/svn/branches/lite/

and for canvas
http://away3d.googlecode.com/svn/branches/lite/src/basics/ExCanvas.as

make sure to explore "all folder", new features are all there :)

Wow, I didn't know there were so many paths of development for
Away3D. So if I want the latest version of the away3dlite, which path
in svn should I be checking out? I was using "trunk/fp10/Away3DLite",
should I be using "branches/lite/libs/away3dlite"? I just want to
make sure I'm using the latest version that is in the long term path
of Away3D development.

Does the built-in canvas in the branch version perform better than
using the layer property with a new sprite in the trunk? or is it
just a convenience?
