Does anyone know if it has been closed? Usually fly in there Grand Prix
weekend.
Since it's not AeroPelican, that's a good indication the runway is closed.
If it was AeroPelican it would indicate the grass areas were closed.
To 'splain... Went into AeroPelican years ago for the first time, in an
inoffensive C172 . On arrival I see these white crosses on the grass on
either side of the bitumen. Notta worry - not flying a Tigerschmidt or any
other antique with a tailskid so intended to land on the bitumen anyway.
So did .
Well!! Did I get a blast from the past from the owner (Hilder(?)) even
before I'd shut down!
"Didn't you see those white crosses?"
"Yes, of course I did."
"Then why did you land on the bitumen - that is for take-offs only - it is
not available for landings."
"Well how the hell am I supposed to know that if you put the bloody crosses
on the *grass*?!!"
I think the bitumen might have been quite new and he was very protective of
it.... :-) Cranky old bugger :-)

The syndicate that purchased PID airport several years ago from Sandy is
entirely separate and more interested in residential development on the
block. If you overfly and look at Rwy 04/22 you will note that Len Lukey
put it equidistant between the two streets outside the airport ready for the
development period!
I'll miss PID, it was a nice social coffee visit from TDN.
