K'jhar custodial death victim's body shifted to DHH morgue.
Keonjhar, April 9 -- The agitating bereft kin and Chelianal villagers having turned down to accept the body of deceased Abhimanyu Naik (35), alleged victim of police custodial death on Monday, the district police, reportedly instructed by SP Ashis Kumar Singh, finally shifted it to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) at Kendujhargarh.
The irate villagers are adamant on their demands of Rs 25 lakh as compensation, Rs 50,000 as immediate relief and a Government job to Abhimanyu's widow Malati.
Enraged over the alleged custodial death of Abhimanyu at the Baria PS on Monday, Chelianal villagers and family members turned down to receive the body after the autopsy at the Champua sub-divisional hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the seriously injured Baria PS OIC Tarakanta Khatua and driver Mahendra Raul, following the irate villagers' alleged attack, have been shifted to Cuttack-based SCB Medical College and Hospital. Both have reportedly sustained serious injuries on their heads.
On the other hand, SP Ashis Kumar Singh is taking stock of the situation personally and has reportedly assured to appoint Malati as a home guard (HG), sources informed.
