Ouch my head hurts. What in the world is the point of showing a soft keyboard when there is no touch screen?!?
Anyway, you can use the InputMethodManager class to show or hide the current soft keyboard. I really don't understand what you mean about using SYM to show a soft keyboard, I don't think it ever would have done such a thing.
