Have you looked at the vitamio plugin (http://vov.io/vitamio/) for android.
they have a very good api for connecting to ffmepg.
We are using it in our app, its (avia mediaplayer).

Oh I thought you wanted to have ffmpeg codec installed so as to play hardware incompatible devices.
Anyways the Rockplayer uses ffmpeg.
Do you have the ffmpeg compiled already for android, cause if you google for "rockplayer ffmpeg android" there are good sites which could guide you for this.
After you get it compiled you could look at the symbol table for the method you want to use.
Sorry I dont know the exact method you could use.

Linaro's Android builds include ffmpeg.
To build ffmpeg for Android inside the Android source tree, just add

git://android.git.linaro.org/platform/external/ffmpeg.git

(chances are you want to use the linaro-0.11.1 branch).

If you have any other info on how to use the ffmpeg for android I would love to hear it.

Hi,
I have tried compiling the ffmpeg code using several guides from the internet.
Non of them worked. I tried compiling on windows and ubuntu.

Do you have a good resource for compiling ffmpeg? Can I get it already compiled for Android somewhere?

Thanks.
