Satyamev Jayate app comes to iOS, Android to follow
For the past three Sundays mid-morning in most Indian homes is
dominated by Aamir Khan's latest show, Satyamev Jayate. The show has
received some rave responses for addressing grave social issues. The
music piece performed at the end of every episode, too, plays its role
in conveying the message. The show now plans to make its mobile screen
debut and an iOS
app
is just the step in that direction. The app will let users stream songs
and watch videos. With each episode, the app will be updated with the
new song and video showcased during that episode. Available on iTunes,
the app has been priced at $1.99 (approx Rs.110) and has been developed
by Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.
Social integration in varied levels has become a must-have for apps
these days and the show being no exception has embraced the mobile
medium by roping in Airtel mobile money to enable viewers to make
donations. Viewers can also share content with their friends and
communities with a single click. Those interested can also follow the
official Satyamev Jayate Twitter timeline.
The app is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod
touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad. However,
it requires iOS 4.0 or above. Just like the show, the app, too found a
lot of love, overnight; enough to bag the first position in the
Entertainment category of apps. The app, for now is available to iOS
users only. However, that clearly does not mean those on Android will be
left out. An Android version of the app is in the making and it should
make an appearance soon enough.
Satyamev Jayate is currently being aired on Star Plus and Star
World and addressed pressing issues like dowry, child sexual abuse and
female foeticide.
