Is there a way to create a shortcut to Display Properties?
Win 98, first version.

umm, yes....BUT
why don't you just right-click on an empty place on the desktop and select
"properties"?

Two reasons:
I'm lazy
I'd like to know how to do it.

Drag the display icon from the control panel to the desktop if you're not
too lazy.

If you're looking for the command lines, they're:

Background tab:
rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl,,0

Screen Saver tab:
rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl,,1

Appearance tab:
rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl,,2

Settings tab:
rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl,,3

Very good. I tried the one I was really interested in (Settings) and it
worked like a charm.

Thanks a lot.

that was kinda cool. I made a batch file called settings and now all I have
to do is double-click and it takes me right there to settings! cool beans.

You don't need a batch file. Right-click the desktop and select
New > Shortcut. Copy/paste the command line into the box
provided, then give it a name. Change the icon by right-clicking
the shortcut and selecting Properties.

hi steve...
did you ever think to just go to settings, control panel, click display,
click the settings tab, and then when you click on advanced, you can
check on the general tab for show settings icon on the taskbar?
then the blue little display icon is always there on the taskbar to set
whatever it is you need to without going back into control panel or
having an extra shortcut icon on your desktop...
take care...
Dee

How is someone supposed to just "think" to do this if they had no idea
that it could be done?

Regards, Otser.

and that wasn't my intention...steve wrote back...he tried the solution i gave
and it worked for him. what i simply meant was...had he been there before
that i may have just been repeating something he had already tried? you'll
have to forgive "my" play on words...
take care...
