I can access news.adelphia.net using OE, but when I use the same login with
Agent, I get an authentication error "502 Access denied via @adelphia.net
auth server". Adelphia uses Giganews as the provider, and they said to use
my full email address, e.g. us...@adelphia.net, as the login name. This
works in OE but not in Agent. Does anyone know why? I've used Agent with
other servers with no problem.

Dumb question, but are you absolutely sure you've entered the password
correctly?

Confirm with Adelphia that the email address rather than just username
is required for news access. Email may require it but the news
servers not.

yes it can, I use SBC/Yahoo and the login for their Servers (probably
way back in the day were the old Prodigy Servers) is my Full Email
Address.

I am running XP SP2, though for Firewall I use /Betty/'s Favorite,
Zone alarm. (current version)

Another confirmation: Using the Login Method "Username and
password", the different usernames used for several different
instances of Agent configured for different news servers all have an
"@" in the middle of the username/login name, which is immediately
followed by the domain.

I didnt even notice that with APN (I use it for Binaries and as of now
Backup Text, since I can't see paying for 3 Usenet Services)
