Maybe in the past...but that was a personal peeve of Des. He absolutely
*hated* the "Americanization" of his nick and *most* people were polite
enough to respect that and not bring it up. However, *some* people
*intentionally* called him "Deathsaurus" or referred to the American name
in his presence just to piss him off. IMO this was totally uncalled for.
It was a simple. Don't use the name *around Des or Red* and you were OK.
I don't think that was too much to ask.

> #tfu: where the ops don't dick you over.
> Unless there's a good reason, or it's at least funny. :)

I take great offense at that statement. We at #transformers do *NOT* dick
*anyone* ever. Everyone's free to express an opionion so long as it's not
a flame ("BW sux!"), it doesn't offend anyone, or it's not deemed to be
in bad taste (on occasion, we can get a bit raunchy but usually only
among friends). IF the ops believe someone in the channel has overstepped
the line, they give that person a *warning* to cease and desist. Failure
to comply will usually result in a kick. It may seem a bit harsh at times
but it gets the point across...and one can always reenter the channel so
long as they behave themselves.

*Sometimes*, we feel it necessary to BAN an individual from the channel.
Usually, this is only in extreme cases such as 1) Continuing to act in an
immature or inappropriate manner despite repeated warnings/kicks
(asking/demanding Ops is a REALLY good way to get yourself banned in a
hurry!) 2) intentional flaming and/or trolling and 3) Entering the
channel while simultaneously being part of an adult/sex/porn channel
(usually we issue a warning to drop the offending channel first). We get
our fair share of individuals (ie: sickos/weirdoes) who mistake
#transformers as being a channel for crossdressers, transvestites,
transsexuals, she-males, drag queens, etc. We *usually* try to be polite
and let the individual know of their mistake but sometimes it gets to be
so annoying we just kick/ban them and go on. In most cases, however these
bans seldom last more than a week if not just the evening.

Sometimes, the ops like to play around and kick each *other* in jest.
After all, most of the times it's harmless. However, sometimes even *we*
cross the line and *deserve* a good kick from a fellow op. We're not
immune to channel rules either.

What some people fail to realize is that Ops exist for a *reason*. They
aren't there on some type of "power trip" kicking everyone they disagree
with or because they can. Nor do they consider themselves "better" than
others. Ops are not about *power*...they're about *responsibility*.
They're about *order*. Think of them as channel IRCops. They exist to
make sure that channel rules are not being violated and that everyone
within conforms to a certain modicum of maturity. Yes, they can change
the topic but if EVERYONE were able to change it, we'd have endless,
annoying "topic wars" where the channel topic changes every 15 seconds.
It's both annoying and unnecessary. Besides, ANYONE in the channel can
propose a topic of discussion without having to display it at the top of
the channel. What seems to get some individuals is that *they* lack the
ability to do so. It's a case of simple jealousy. Those who crave power
should never be allowed to possess it. It goes to their head. :P

Ops exist to provide *order*. "Stream-of-consciousness/spur-of-the-moment
" discussion are fine but there has to be *some* regulation of what goes
on in the channel. To invite unpoliced behavior in a channel environment
is to invite anarchy. There has to be *some* point at which you can set
your foot down and say "No! This has got to stop!" THAT is the reason for
Ops.

Well...no offense but this is pretty much how the whole "affair" got
started. You may have not *intended* for your remarks to be taken
seriously, but they were. As with the remarks which created the split, it
WASN'T obvious that they were made in jest. So naturally, someone's going
to take it personally.

I hadn't planned on making our "private differences" PUBLIC on ATT but
these advertisements for the "new" TF channels have been casting
#transformers in a rather unfavorable light. IMO, THAT is petty and
uncalled for. I'm not going to name names or cast blame but I didn't
fight back until then. You want to tell everyone on ATT about a new TF
channel? Fine...but you don't have to draw *those* kinds of comparisons
and descriptions.

Saying that the Ops on #Transformers "dick you over" didn't sound the
LEAST bit friendly or even neutral. We never had a problem with the
previous TF channels because they WERE civil about it and didn't get ugly
about it.

Hopefully, this will be my last post on what SHOULD have stayed a private
matter.

BTW, you'll notice I merely stated that we were the FIRST. That's a fact.
If I said the BEST, that would merely be an opinion although certainly
not an inflammatory one. :)

Not at all. Red's a warm and caring person but as it is with most people,
you have to get to know her first. :)

I too took offense at people insulting my friends behind their backs when
they weren't around. OK, maybe it WAS meant to be in fun but 1.) that's
not MY idea of fun and 2) it should have been made TOTALLY OBVIOUS so
that even someone just arriving could tell it wasn't meant to hurt
anyone. I just wasn't able to come to that conclusion.

> If you want a really good example of their nature, take alook at what
>they've done. They've banned all of us tfu ops from their channel.

First of all, not *all* of us were responsible for that. However, I DID
try to patch things up with everyone on #tfu once I was made aware of the
situation (I myself was not present during the night of the split) and it
fell to me to do something. *I* sent Monocle over to try and make ammends
and work everything out to everyone's satisfaction. I was told flatly
that those on #tfu weren't *interested* in coming back. I offered and you
refused. I can accept that.

Here's where the problem occurred. Certain individuals from #tfu started
coming back to #transformers after they told me they weren't coming
back...and after they learned that Red had left the channel permanently.
They didn't *leave* tfu...they simply wanted to come over to
#transformers to pass the time until their friends on #tfu arrived. In
essence, they wanted to "have their cake and eat it too." They wanted to
be part of #transformers at their *convenience* and leave once the #tfu
crowd started to gather. They weren't interested in coming back...they
just wanted something to do until then. I told them quite poilitely that
they could not use the channel as a "weigh station". If they wanted to
come back, that was OK. If they wanted to remain with #tfu, that was
alright as well. They could NOT, however, pop in and out whenever THEIR
channel was empty and/or dead. It was that simple. They had to choose.
It was only when the people involved in the split continued to flutter
back and forth, that a ban was instituted.

> I have never harbored any ill will towards Star

Thanks, Hydra...and I won't hold it against you that you refer to me by a
slightly different nick. ;)

I too am rather upset about recent events but at least I know that I did
my best to rectify them. Some things were just never meant to be, I
guess.

Hi all,

Weither or not some of you read this is your own opinion.I realize alot of you

to Monocle and StarSaber, weither they're reading this or not,for calling you jackasses
a week ago.Secondly,I'd like to apologize to the people in #transformers who were

be a while before she can walk again due to her surgery, but I valued her over any
of you.I saw everything that went on after both I and Hooks left,so don't act like
you're so innocent yourselves.I'd just like to remind you of one thing,I did not say
a word to Hooks, until he said (quoted but edited) "Blurr:If you ever F*** with me

with any of you, because your loyalties have alreadt been seen.I may stop in to say

Nahhh... #tfu (meaning "Transformers Universe" or "Transformers
Underground" depending on who you ask) is a place a lot of us left for
in the wake of the big #transformers split, to give it a nice
non-threatening name. Trixter and myself were elected founders by about
fifteen or so people, and from there we added LiquidVelcro, GMHydra, and
PrimeOfJustice (John Bartos) as ops.

The only real difference between us and #transformers is that we only
kick for spoilers, as has been the reason for 2 out of the 3 kicks
we've implemented since mid-December, one of them taking place today.
The other was kicking Hydra for spelling "Deszaras" wrong. ;)

#transformers and #cybertron are now both places to chat, as both
places have some great ops such as Monocle and Dalmatian, but sometimes
we at #tfu just need to have our own space to let the conversation
go whatever direction it feels like in a stream-of-consciousness
sorta way. :)

Actually, he's right. I've seen several people booted from there just for that
or less, simply because certain ops were in a bad mood. People are often booted
for other reasons, I admit, but one of the reasons I broke off and co-founded
#tfu was that I was tired of being booted for little or no reason, for one.
Anyway, if anyone's on mIRC, be sure to check out #tfu, we have a great little
bunch of people who hang out there, almost all of the ops are in in the
evenings/nights, abd we guarantee, you can call japanese transformers whatever
you like. Sorry for the plug, but we'd like to make our presence well known.

Well, the reason I left #tf initially is because I spelled "Deszaras"
wrong, meaning with a "u" in the last syllable. Deszaras kicked me.
Now the worst thing I had done in #transformers ever to my recollection
was maybe saying I needed to go potty before leaving for the bathroom
or during a comparison of #tf regulars to the cast of Cheers, connecting
Red to "that one lady with 8 kids" (saying that because I couldn't
remember her name). Red kicked me then with the message tagged on the
end saying something like "I'll never have kids" or to that effect.

I can't apologize for those who have insulted Des or Red behind their
back, but I can say that I think I've tried in vain to become friends
with some of the people there. We obviously have differences, many
that can't be reconciled, and that's another reason that #tfu is
there. It's a home for the people who can't fit in well with
#transformers.

I agree with the power trip part there, Star Saber. It's true, a
majority of the ops in #transformers are great, and some are good
friends of mine. That channel is where they feel comfortable and what
they feel is the best channel according to their chatting ideals.

#tfu isn't about stealing everyone away from #transformers. #tf is
the mainstream TF chat and will always be so. We still don't mind
people stopping in every once in a while, cuz we do miss a few of
ya. :)

Well, we really haven't found a time when we really needed that yet
in #tfu. #tfu is *fun* to chat in. The topics don't have to be
primmed and pruned at the edges and you don't have to chat in fear of
eventually being kicked. The only rule we have in #tfu is that of
no spamming, and we've kicked twice for that offense.

I must admit #transformers was a great place to chat until That Day, but
#tfu is much more of a free spirit than #transformers ever was.
But that's just my opinion. Others may feel #transformers (or
#cybertron, another good channel) is the order they need.

QUOTING:

I take great offense at that statement. We at #transformers do *NOT*
dick
*anyone* ever. Everyone's free to express an opionion so long as it's
not
a flame ("BW sux!"), it doesn't offend anyone, or it's not deemed to be
in bad taste (on occasion, we can get a bit raunchy but usually only
among friends). IF the ops believe someone in the channel has
overstepped
the line, they give that person a *warning* to cease and desist. Failure
to comply will usually result in a kick. It may seem a bit harsh at
times
but it gets the point across...and one can always reenter the channel so
long as they behave themselves.

RESPONSE: Maybe this is your ideal, but there WERE experiences (my own
included) where this was NOT the way of things.

There are some channel ops who suffer from the same power trips decried
in the previous post.

Yes, red. Why don't you break out the logs, so that we can see one particular
instance among months of arguments, specifically presented to make me look bad.
No, tell you what, I'll save you the trouble. my comment was one so obviously
farciful and jesting that there should have been no doubt, and that was "I am
the incarnation of all evil in the transformers universe!" That is quite
clearly a rediculous gag, far be it from me to suggets anyone was evil. I
admit, it does not portray me in the best light, however, I would like to point

out that Red immediately responded "For what? You fucking insulted me!" That
wasn't at all a civil response for such an outlandish joke, and should be taken
as a pretty accurate representation of red's general nature. Obviously, if I
had used the nick and said something like...oh...."I am a colossal bitch" (for
INSTANCE), *that* wouldv'e been something to get upest about, but taking
something so personally that is basically nonsensical is pretty unreasonable.,
and should be not taken as anything more than a poke in the ribs. As for my
responce, I was not justifying myself, simply remarking that I didn't know she
was there, much as any person mght upon starting a conversation.

If you want a really good example of their nature, take alook at what they've

done. They've banned all of us tfu ops from their channel. While I admit to my
petty differences with red, I have never harbored any ill will towards Star

Sabre, the current owner, and always respected him as a friend and knowledgeable
collector. That it should come to this.

Oh, really, Sabre? Was it one of these "extreme casess" that led you to ban me
from your room permanently? We had always been civil and rational towards each
othre, and you had expressed no ill will towards me. I don't see how anything
has changed. Your actions contradict your words.

Willis. You're not helping. WIllis is obviously jesting, what he means, and
what the original post means is that we simply harbor a mor lax attitude than
#tfu generally. We respond to vulgarity in similar manners, but we don't have
such personal oversensitivity, the quality which I would say probably ruined
#tf the most.

THIS is NOT true.

I recall that everybody was acting like we could kick everyone else's ass,
saying things like "Im buff, I'll meet you at BotCon and tear you a new a-hole"
and acting very immature, in a good sense. :) Then I said "TuxedoBlurr is my
enemy." You said "bring it on!" and I said "If you ever f*** with me again I'll
kick your f***in ass," not meant as an invite to a flame, but just a little
playfulness on MY part, which YOU in turn turned into a flame. Of course,
considering a) you blurted about something you SHOULDN'T have, and b) you
laughed at the fact you endagered someone's career <NOT going to mention that
someone>, I shouldnt be surprised. Everyone spoke to others in a similar
"macho-esque Im gonna whip some booty" manner, but you're the only one who
turned it into a flame on IRC, and now you're bringing it into the newsgroup.

If you notice, I do not hold grudges against anyone. PDilloway and I talk now.
We joke about before, and that's it. I mistook what OptiMoose said to me on IRC
<about me being de-opped, and her reasoning for it>. I apologized for taking it
the wrong way, she apologized for not stating her reasons in a way I wouldnt
feel offended. No one loss. When Blurr did something immature, I shafted it for
him over PRIVATE MESSAGE on IRC asking for at LEAST an apology to the person
whom he endagered <he laughed in reply and said he deserves it>, but didnt give
it a second thought until he decided to take something personally.

THIS is the TRUTH. In the words of Larry D, "UNedited, UNabridged... if only I
can get more people to give a damn."

"Charles Calhoun" <grim...@vt.edu> which read:

Actually, I'm REALLY curious about this remark: Please explain how
the following people have "dicked you over" :
DreadWing, Monocle, StarSaber, HighFlyer, Huffer, Waspinator,
Chronot, LioCaesar, just to name a few (maybe you're not saying ALL
the ops "dick you over," but you could make that more clear)

I mean, we've put with plenty of slag in our day, but the past few
months have brought it up to a whoooooole new level.

Ya know none of this would happen if you guys wouldn't take
things so seriously. I mean just the other day a cop pulled me over
and said he was gonna give me ticket for speeding, and I just craked
up laughing. I drove away with a handfull of citations.

Boo hoo. Wah. You don't seem to understand. The correctness of his
actions are not the issue at hand. What *was* an issue was the
responsibility of *your* actions. And you won't convince me in a million
years your behavior was in any way justified. It was the epitome of
childishness, and I would have expected more from you. I don't know who
you consider your "real friends", but know this: if *I* see you doing
something that is detrimental and/or wrong, I *will* call you on it,
friend of foe. I don't think you'll find anyone who'll disagree with
that statement.

In reference to the majority of this thread, which sprang from a
poor-tasted post about a channel, I have an announcement to make. To
hell with all of you.

I'm not literally asking you to go to hell, now. But know this; anyone
whom I perceive as perpetuating this infantile dispute will be
IMMEDIATELY added to my IRC ignore list for an indeterminate, but likely
long, period of time. This applies to close friends, acquaintances, and
anyone else. I have no desire to let the actions of some of my friends
rob me of enjoyment any longer. A select few people (I think the total
is 2) know how I feel about this debacle, and I no longer wish to discuss
it. If I must talk to brick walls, at least they can be more attractive
ones. I make this announcement so that any TF fans who attempt to talk
to me and get no response understand the reasoning behind it.

Also, I would like to mention that I will make visits to
Transformers-related channels rather infrequently now. The purpose of
them is supposedly to bring entertainment and enjoyment, correct? Well,
when it seems that half the time, the primary topic of discussion in a
channel is another channel, usually cast in a negative light, I won't
pretend to enjoy it, and I won't try to endure it in hopes that some
palatable discussion occurs. If you need me, I can be found in
#EuProgramming mostly (a channel dedicated to the Euphoria programming
language, an excellent young language I'm quite fond of). Again, if I
don't respond...you know what's up. Right on to the real, death to the
shullbit.

Warpticon, we now return to your regularly scheduled nonsense.

Oh, come on! We all know that you check in on the channel quite often
and still have an influence in channel matters. You even messaged me
about something that you couldn't have known about UNLESS you were
spying on us. And I don't think anyone wants you dead (anyone who does
is sick).

You got it. This is the last thing I have to say on this matter. The
only reason I even responded to this was to make it clear that I don't
want you dead. I just want you out of my life (specifically out of
IRC), so why don't you make good on your threats and stay away?
