Ah. I'm going to write a letter to Hasbro or something now.

So, I'm sitting here, waiting for the kids to get their shoes on so they can go
out for a bit and I can get some painting done, fiddling with G2 Electro, and I
notice that his left knee has a crack in it. Well, that's just Prime. And
about two seconds after I notice it, his leg crumbles to pieces in my hands.

Okay, this phenomenon is REALLY starting to get on my nerves. Granted, Hasbro
probably doesn't conduct much in the way of long-term tests to determine the
longevity of a given plastic mix over a time period of years and years, but
still, they must have SOME idea that the glittery stuff they stick in the gold
plastic messes with its molecular resolution. I mean, just about ANY
Transformer I own now who's made of this stuff has deteriorated. Roadblock, G2
Slingshot, and now poor, poor Electro, who never saw more than a few minutes of
actual play time in his entire, pathetic, seven-year life span. I'm really
glad I down own the Monster Pretenders right about now.

I fear for Beast Machines Snarl. I'm terrified of even handling him now
because I know one day he's going to spontaneously combust.

Yes, I'm thinking a letter to Hasbro is definitely in order...

How do you mean? Did his legs just break into several pieces that might be
possible to be glued back together, or did it simply disintegrate into tiny
fragments?

In any case, this is another strike against Electro. Between his loose legs
and this, there's little chance I'll be snagging him at Botcon.

Yikes. Sure hope you're wrong about that. I made Snarl the leader of my BM
Maximals, at least maybe until BP Op comes along.

Four pieces, including the leg itself and the chunk that remains attached to
his upper leg. Two others were tiny shards, one of which I found and one that
I didn't. I've already glued him back together, but I have this feeling that
his leg will just break again in a different spot if I try to pose him again.

The really sad thing is that he's just about the only Beast Machines Maximal
that I actually *like* (Blast Punch Primal is really cool too, though).

I'm not surprised Electro there died. I had the plastic of the hood of one do
that before.

<Great Golden Snipping!>

I've heard that Black Zarak suffers from the same problem.

Man, Zob....you must have the worst luck with old Tfs. I have a whole
bunch of G1 stuff from my childhood (all of it heavily played with, of
course), and the only one to even remotely break was Horri-Bull, whose
hinge on the bull neck finally gave up and snapped.

I think you have a black cloud over your head or something....;)

Well, luckily I am blessed with the ability to fix them in most cases, so I
guess it all evens out in the end.

Oh, and I have never once had a problem with Transmetals flaking. :)

Zobovor... well, except for Rhinox. But he doesn't count.

WOW, I had no idea that G2 Transformers could be so brittle, I have never had
any problems with any of mine! I don't really have that many G2 toys yet, but
I've been getting a few lately and this sort of thing concerns me.. Are there
any other G2 (or for that matter any Transformers) figures that have been known
to break so easily? Other Laser Rods for example?? If so, I might think twice
before getting any more G2 figures...or at least think twice about transforming
them too much!! :/

>>Man, Zob....you must have the worst luck with old Tfs

Possibly, but glittery gold plastic IS evil. I have ONE broken TF in my entire
collection, which has been carefully transformed about 5 times ever, and I am
the original owner---a G2 Slingshot. The plastic just cannot take the
slightest bit of stress. Standing up in robot mode seems to leave stress marks
on the feet and legs. The Aerialbots (hey, I can spell it right) have been in
gestalt mode for about a year now, after the 3rd re-gluing of his right wing,
left leg, head, neck, chest, middle connector, and other miscellaneous shards.
No real need to display him in plane mode, all the cracks show. Oh, one other
thing----1 TF has a crack (but no broken off parts, still transforms
perfectly)-----BM Striker----the recolored (GOLD!) BW Neo Stegosaurus.

He does. You have to be very carefull withi his sheild and the arms on
the car guy, cause the plastic in those areas is very brittle. This
includes the sealed ones too. When I got my BZ a couple years ago, I
made sure to be extremely careful about that, cause BZ, the tf fan,
managed to warn me about it beforehand.

I've seen similar problems with the 2 Ultra Pretenders (Skyhammer &
Roadblock). The innermost pretender tends to fall apart in your hand. And I
feel really bad for those who lose Black Zaraks that way.

I recommend the gold plastic toys be for "display only".
